I do quite a bit of online shopping for clothing in between making 375 mile round trips to the nearest metropolitan area where shopping is more plentiful. Any suggestions on a few pieces I could purchase and changeup with accessories to have a few different looks?

By now you probably have found looks you know fit your taste and body type. I know my tastes haven't really changed so I would say continue to buy and wear what you like for you. I don't understand what is supposed to be clothing for those over 50. Search online and find styles that you like and don't worry about what is "age appropriate". Age doesn't define who you are and what you should wear. The problem might be that you feel the need to change how you dress because of age and not what you really like. I would feel fake if I changed the way I dress because I now am 65. I would say stick with the styles and looks you have always liked and forget about dressing "age appropriate" (whatever that is).

Im 73 and I love my denim. I wear mostly jeans, bootcut, straight, skinny, capri's. I have ripped and patched and just plain jeans. They can be dressed up or down. I find I like wedge heeled sandals and some flats. heeled boots and tall boots in winter. No heels over 2" high for me. I have a lot of costume jewelry with bling. I wear very colorful tunics, blouses and tee shirts. I can look semi-casual or dressy-casual. I dont do dressy-dressy anymore. There are times when I wear tennis shoes, jeans, tee shirt and a baseball cap. I dont wear shorts anymore so capri's are my shorts. Very seldom do I wear a skirt or dress.

Just dress how YOU like and what YOU are comfy in.

@Quinny, I like the advice given by @Andreatoo and @Pook. You probably already have a certain taste and so stick with it. More than likely your taste in clothing has matured from when you were in your 20s, so trust your judgement as to what looks nice on you and what appeals to you. Those are the only rules you really need to follow. I think QVC has some good selections available. The only problem you may have with QVC clothing is the limited petite sizing selections, but there are things available in petite and also a number of styles which will work on a variety of heights and body sizes. Given where you live you do have to trust mail order shopping.

You'll hear a lot of "rules" about what to wear if you are over 50. They are not rules. They are opinions.

If you like soft, drapey clothes, don't buy structured, fitted clothing. If you like color and prints, then by all means wear them. If you want to dip your toes into a trend like uneven hems and tunics, try them in an inexpensive piece until you are sure.

I actually fi nd it easier to dress now, at 63, then I did when I was 40. I know what i like and what flatters me and I don't try to emulate the styles of people who someone dictates I should copy.

@Ms tyrion2 Wild applause for your entire post...but the last paragraph especially speaks to me! I too am 63 and finding dressing easier. I'm still working, and need to look somewhat polished in a business casual way most days, and I know what colors/styles flatter me. However, I am always open to trying a new style if I think it will suit me.

Try Denim & Co, Isaac and Quacker from QVC. You also may want to try Belk on line and Bealls of Florida, both are southern and offer many beautiful styles if you like colorful fashions. They also carry many brands that are store exclusives. For example Belk carries Kim Rogers and Crown & Ivy which are great store house brands. Give Belk a try they are privately owned & have been around for many years.
