I am buying less. Over the years I turned myself into a spoiled brat. Now I am trying to hard to pay off my credit cards. I am not in financial dire straits, and my debt is not serioulsy over the top, like the people you see on shopoholic TV shows. But enough is enough. The urges to shop still come on strong, but I am doing my best to fight the feeling.

My one exception may be that fabulous MICHAEL Michael Kors spring green topper. I don't have any spring toppers left, as I have shrunk out of the ones I used to wear. I really miss the navy/white (A200240) dotted topper, and would pick that one up in a heartbeat if/when I ever find it again.
Lucky Lu ~ If you do treat yourself to that MK topper, enjoy! It is very good looking and, after all, it is a necessity since you have done such a great job of "shrinking out of your clothes".

shipping charges back and forth. I would shop much more without the shipping cost.
Smart online retailers have found out this really works. Now, I always look on sites that offer free shipping and returns before any other. Zappos figured out a long time ago that this policy generates more sales. If I have to buy beauty items, I always look at Neiman's or Nordstrom first since they have free shipping and returns. I just sent back a Christmas return to QVC and it cost $8.95 to ship it back. Made me cringe.
I seldom buy anything from QVC anymore when I used to have deliveries weekly. I've changed my buying habits since the economy went south, only buying what I need instead of making impulsive buys that often ended up in returns, or spending too much money on stuff I really don't need.
I never watch on TV anymore unless Bobbi Brown or sterling designers are on. But, the quality of the designer sterling has declined so much due to rise is costs that I find the jewelry I bought before the prices went up is much more beautiful and substantial. Hence, I don't buy much jewelry anymore either.
I miss a lot of the shows since I don't pay any attention to the program guide anymore. My mom got me hooked back in the 90', and I used to have the TV on QVC all of the time. I seldom even think of watching anymore. My bank account thanks me.
Free shipping and returns, and leaving easy pay on after items have aired would probably help QVC's sales.

I feel the same way. I got WAY too carried away with it, but quit about 2 years ago, and am paying everything off now. I'm almost finished! It feel SO good!

I am because as we are now in "empty nest" I am purging my house.
I just went through the kitchen/basement and got rid of stuff I havent used in ages and found stuff I forgot about. Found a place that will take it, including the piano.
Interesting to note that we keep the receipts for the month and this past month is much smaller.
ETA; sorry if I posted this earlier

I seem to go in cycles that last a long time. I'm in my 'buying less' cycle now and should probably stay that way since my husband is retiring this year and my own retirement is not that far off. I think it's like anything else - you get into a habit of doing something, in this case watching shopping channels and buying things. Then, priorities change, or, in my case, I stopped watching as much because nothing they're showing seems to interest me.
My soft spot seems to be jewelry, but what with getting a ton of the good stuff from my mom's estate last year, I'm way oversaturated with it. I have to think long and hard now as to whether I really can't live without a piece.

My buying less is due to the fact I work part-time now & need very little in the way of new. We just got done remodeling kitchen, and are planning on doing living/dining room this next year, so our funds are ear-marked for bigger and better things than what goes on my back. I can live with Goodwill or consignment shop purchases, except for underwear/socks, or shoes for now.

I am buying less, I also have turned into a spoiled brat when it comes to collecting things. I am tired of the clutter in my house and want it out. So I have started the decluttering and buying less and it feels pretty good.
Good luck to all who have embraced a "less is better" way of thinking.
