That is one of those old sayings/beliefs.

I saw this photo of actress Anya Taylor-Joy in People, it's so striking to me. The dress has that old Hollywood look and style too.

@Greeneyedlady21 - I'm blonde, and I would look great in that color. But I would call it more of a golden yellow. I am warm complected, and I look terrible in pale yellow!

I was a blonde for 30 years .... yellow was one of my best colors.  And now that I not a blonde - it's still one of my best colors.

There seem to be a lot of "rules" that I fail to abide by. My hair is the same shade as the model. I have a neutral complexion probably more cool than warm. I wear all shades of yellow and have received compliments over the years wearing them..

My across the street neighbor is very blonde and she wears lemon yellow all the time.  It looks great on her actually much better than the shade on the person in the picture.

Most people can wear any color as long as it's the right shade.

The rules about who can wear what color is very outdated.

@Trinity11 Me too! Pale skin and from brunette (from very dark to medium depending on if I had been in the sun), to blonde to gray, I don't think I have had any forbidden colors.

In the OP picture, the shoes are off to my eyes.
