If they are going to be used while mowing or snowblowing they will need to be noise cancelling headphones, which I think are the larger ones and not ear buds

That's a great point! They do make noise cancelling in-ear buds, but the over-the-ear headphones do a better job. And they do make wireless over-the-ear headphones.

Bose makes a noise canceling in ear earphone. For my purposes (outside walking), I wouldn't use them. I need to be conscious of activity for safety reasons. LM

I don't either. Not to mention, I like to hear nature or have quiet time while walking.

Bose noise-cancelling does NOT cancel out all noise. i have them and use when I vacuum to listen to book, but I can still hear phone ring easily.
