The Roku that @BalletBabe is talking about is not digital quality. It has what are called "composite or RCA inputs", just like your very old VCR's. The resolution, at best, is 480p, so it depends on the quality of video and sound you would rather watch and hear.

If your tv set is only 6 years old, I would be shocked if it did not have an HDMI Input. HDMI is digital sound and video, and instead of running 3 cables(if it is stereo, and 2 if it is monophonic sound), with HDMI both stereo sound and High Definition(720p or 1080p) depending on your cable box and your tv set, need only 1 cable, an HDMI.

If you have Comcast for your cable and internet you should have a high speed connection. If you use a tablet in your home at all or cell phone to get on the internet, you have WiFi.

For some cheaper older versions of Roku, they either use "composite outputs", some versions, called Roku Stick, use a USB to connect to your tv set, so for those you need a tv set with a USB Input, or you will have to buy an adapter. Even many new tv sets do not have a USB Input.

Up to you how much you want to spend and the quality of viewing you choose to watch. I have been into Audio/Video going back to 1955, when there was not even stereo FM radio. Got into video with the 1st VCR's back in the late 1960's. That said, I prefer the best picture and sound available, and using the long antiquated "Composite/RCA Cables"?  No way for me.

@hckynut  Thanks you explained that very well.  I guess I don't mind the old outputs, because I am never in that room.  It is a guest bedroom and I just wanted to have something for company to watch.  You are right about quality and I would not want it on a TV that I use everyday.  I have a big screen in my bedroom and living room.  I do turn it on when ironing.  LOL yes I still iron.  I love to iron.

Re: tv with roku compatibility.

@goldensrbest

I just put an add on Craigslist for our 2 Samsung TV sets. The 37"  we have had for a few years. The 40" belonged to my mother-in-law who passed away late last July. They both are the 1080p resolution and have 3 HDMI inputs. The 40" is newer than our 37". We are buying a new Samsung 4k for our master bedroom. It will probably be a 43" this time.

When you buy your tv set just make sure it is a 1080p, just ask wherever you purchase it. The new sets usually have at least 2 HDMI Inputs, so your cable box will plug into 1, and if you get a newer version of Roku, you can plug it into the other HDMI.

Many TV sets have these inputs on the side of the tv set, where they are much easier to see and reach. All of our present tv sets are Samsung, even the newest one, which is a 65" Curved Screen 4k. They have been the #1 TV Manufacturer in the world for the last 9 years. I see them as the best and their prices are not any higher than any of the other major brands you would recognize.

If I can help you or you have any questions, I would be more than happy to try to help you with what I can.

I really don't know other than to say they want more because of their name. I have never owned a Sony tv and probably never will. Samsung is and has been #1 for going on 10 years now. I will stick with them because I have never had any problems and I see their video quality as the best. They are also priced well.

The model show above is a 4k tv set, far from the cheapest. Do you want 4k? The 43" Samsung I am buying is being held by a friend of mine that owns an electronics store. I have bought most of our tv sets from him, including our 65" 4k we have now.

The 43" we are buying is $399 no tax and he will deliver it after I sell the 2 I have just advertised on Craigslist. Samsung had a special on the 43" so I told him to hold 1 for me. They are now $549 at the lower priced websites.

@hckynut, Yet another question, are smart tv sets difficult to learn how to use?

I don't think so. My suggestions to everyone with any new electronic device is to not get in a hurry. My advice has always been this.

Get the owners manual/sit in front of the tv set/read about the very basics on how it works. Learn 1 thing at a time until you are sure you understand how to do it, then move on to the next basic operation.

Follow the steps as you read them and it makes it much easier. If you have used  Smart phone it should make it easier for you. If you read and follow the instructions in the owners manual you will be fine. As I said in the beginning, do not be in a hurry to learn everything works, it takes a little time, but eliminates a lot of unnecessary frustrations.
