Re: iPad/iPhone Tips and Tricks - iOS 7

Why are some text messages green and some blue? Someone said the blue ones are other people who have iPhones. Yet my co-worker uses her iPhone (I have her cell # listed under her iPhone [not a generic cellphone]) and her texts still show as blue.... any ideas??

The messages you send to people with iPhones will show in blue.

Those sent to generic cell phone users will be green.

Siri works on iPad 3 and later. Make sure Siri is turned on in Settings.

I have an iPad 2 and knew I couldn't find it so figured I didn't have it.

Re: iPad/iPhone Tips and Tricks - iOS 7

I'm having a terrible time with my iPhone 5--ever since I updated to iOS 7. Sometimes it won't let me slide to unlock and all the apps get jammed. I touch an app on the screen and nothing happens. Sometimes I get a call and I can't unlock it to answer. Sometimes I need to make a call and I can't unlock it to use the phone. Sometimes the camera gets jammed. I see what I want to take a picture of, but nothing happens when I touch the photo or video button. When I'm in Safari, the screen will freeze. Sometimes I try to enter the security code & it freezes after I've entered 2 digits. Sometimes I'm listening to music and I can't unlock it to turn off the music. Pick up my phone 30-45 minutes later and everything's OK. Then it happens again. Always seems to get jammed up when I really need it. I didn't have any problems at all until I updated to iOS 7.

Here are some things I've tried: clearing browser history, turning off/on phone, updating the latest software (I'm using 7.1.1), & taking the phone out of the Survivor case. It says I have 6.8 GB available.

Any troubleshooting suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Posting an update:

After lots of troubleshooting with the toll free Apple support techs, I was told to either mail in the phone or take it to the nearest Apple store. At first, they recommended that I restore it to original settings, but that didn't work. The techs at the Apple store determined that my touch screen was defective and they installed a new one. I've got so much technical support time invested in this phone that I've owned for less than 2 months.

FYI: This was my first visit to the Apple store. It's like going to the doctor's office! Make an appointment, sit and wait and wait and wait, drop off phone and come back at directed time and wait and wait and wait. So crowded and that was on a Monday night. Hate to see what it would be like on the weekends!

Another update: After the new touch screen was installed, I still had issues with the "slide to unlock" feature. People would call, but I couldn't answer because the screen wouldn't unlock. Last week I got a replacement phone and finally I'm not having any problems at all! Smiley Happy The first phone must have some hardware issues. I thought it was odd when I purchased it at Best Buy because when the sales rep opened the box the battery was completely dead. I had to wait a long time just for him to charge the battery and set up the phone. I thought it was unusual for an Apple product to have a dead battery right out of the box, so that might have been an indicator. The sales rep said it was his last iPhone 5, so it was my only option at the time.

Re: iPad/iPhone Tips and Tricks - iOS 7

Great thread! I recently updated my iPad 2 to iOS 7. My son gave me a Fitbit Zip for my birthday. I installed the app from the App Store and a couple days later decided to delete it. I was rearranging icons and went to the App Store to reinstall the app. Now I can't find the app and it's not in my list of previously purchased apps. What did I do? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
