If I wanted a screen that big, I'd just get the macbook air. I have a full sized ipad I rarely use since I got my iphone 6+.

I was interested in getting some type of Mac a year or so ago @jaxs mom but my car started acting up and I had to buy that instead. But my husband got one of the Macs and he hated it because there was a learning curve. He says it's ok now but had he known, he wouldn't have gotten it. I love tablets more than laps and my needs are simple. Purely recreational.

I've been on a mac for years, yes some things are different than on windows. Honestly I never want to go back to windows though.

Speaking only for music uses, I will be seriously considering the iPad Pro.
I could not use the current iPad for performances because for me, it is too small, but the Pro is just fine.
I've also been using a music writing app that I 'be been very happy with, and while it works quite well on my iPad, it would definitely be better on the Pro.
My question before purchase is the use of the pencil.
I currently use a STYLUS for composition, and if the pencil were able to provide me with even better control than a stylus, that would be another positive.
What I've READ about the keyboard is that it DOES NOT function as the current on-off covers do, and that other covers work better on it.
Perhaps someone else has read more and could clarify that.
Last, the SOUND, in stereo, is said to be MUCH better than any of the iPads.
Overall, many positive points for musicians.

I read, @violann, that the pencil only holds about a 30 minute charge but can easily be recharged in a few seconds. There no place on the Pro to secure the pencil to keep from losing it.
Regarding a keyboard cover other than the Apple one.......there's one called Logistics or a name similar that is better. Probably cheaper, too.
I think this will be my Xmas gift to myself if no emergencies come up. I don't need any clothes or jewelry.
Wish Apple did sales.
Good luck with your music writing, violann.

What is the name of the music writing app you use. I have a friend that is looking for one.
Thanks!

Thanks!
I use NotateMe and I'm crazy about it! It's horribly expensive but worth every cent IMO, and I wasted more money on Finale and Sibelius for my laptop and hated them both.
There's something about using a real stylus/pencil that makes me feel so much more connected to what I'm doing!
I've read that there are some other potential programs that may be in development for the Pro, but for right now NotateMe does exactly what I want it to.
There is a very limited freebie (NotateMeNow I think, but I may have names backwards) that may let your friend decide either way, cha1k- let me know what "friend" thinks!
