Anyone's email going poof? All my email in one account except 3 went poof. I looked in all the other folders & there was about 7 emails in the other trash. There are 2 trash folders & these were in the trash where there is normally nothing. When I saw them I was looking to see which emails they were & they went poof right in front of my eyes as I was looking at them. They are no where to be found. I have 2 email accounts on my iPad & the other email account still has emails from 2012 that I have kept. Makes no sense to me. The email account where they went poof DH & I both use. The other account I use. DH searched online & I'm not the only one having this problem. DH read that Apple said they have not heard of this problem??? I still have the problem when I'm deleting email & I click trash or whatever it says it goes to the home page & I have to go back to the email & delete them all over again. Every once in a while when I'm online & click on something it goes back to the homepage & I have to get back online to what I was doing before this happens. Also some of the emails I need are not coming in on our desktop or laptop computers & are only going to the iPad Bulk Mail. I have added those email addy's to my contacts but that did not help. Most emails in the bulk mail are junk but some I actually need to keep.

Hi, Nightowlz! It might help to know which email service you're using. I have several, and each one can have it's own quirks. I can think of a few issues, but it would help to know specifics first.

Also, are you accessing your email via Safari on the iPad, or by setting it up in "Settings--->Mail, Contacts, Calendars," or both?

DH set up the email on the iPad. He said he went through the mail, contacts, calendars to add the accounts & picked Exchange so I guess that's my email provider. I also use safari browser. We use Windows Live Mail on the desktop & laptop computers. I click on the mail envelope from the home screen to check my email.

That's not your provider. Do you have Comcast and a Comcast.net address? The same thing is true with all internet providers. You get a certain number of e-mail addresses through their servers and your e-mail ends with their name.

You can also use web based e-mail like Hotmail or Gmail. They are not connected to a particular internet provider and don't download the mail to your computer. The nice thing about a web based e-mail, you keep the e-mail address no matter what internet provider you have.

You should have more than one e-mail account for several reasons. You can create an account you only use for business, one for friends and family and one for shopping or a junk account. If you would ever forget your password, how can your provider send you the information if you can't access your account? I have 2 Comcast addresses, one gmail and one Hotmail.

You can also access your e-mail using Safari and going to the web based version at your provider's website.

I lose mail all the time. I have three accounts, all web based. I can recover on my laptop. These iPads sure make you lazy though. I now think it's a big deal to have to use the laptop. OMG awful, huh? LM

We have service with AT&T. Thought I put that in my post but guess I did not. DH hates web based email. LOL!!! I also have an email account with Gmail & use it for junk & so I can use the free Google call phone on the computer or my iPad to make free long distance calls. I have my passwords wrote down so I'm not going to forget those even if I lost the paper I have them wrote down on I know what they are.

Also DH said he picked Exchange & now he says he did not so I don't know how he set up the email accounts. I don't think he's too concerned with it since he does not use my iPad. He uses the 2 laptops he has & his Kindle.

I still use our desktop computer more then I use my iPad. I got it so I could take it with me when we go out of town & on vacation. I use it at night when I kick back in the recliner to watch a little TV. DH uses the laptops most of the time. Just seems odd that the email just disappears for no reason from one email account but not the other. The emails are still on the desktop & laptop computers. I don't like emails I need to keep going to the bulk mail folder on the iPad & not on our other computers though. I put them in the Inbox on the iPad & they went to our computers. I also added them to our contacts so will have to see if that fixes that problem or not. I read some place to go to the cloud & click on not junk but I don't use the cloud. Don't want my business in the cloud. LOL!!!

I have one ATT.net account, but I have no experience with Exchange.

What you might want to do is either:

Delete the account on the iPad and then set it up again choosing "Other" rather than "Exchange" (and accept the default settings)

OR

Go into the iPad settings, choose the ATT.net account, tap on the word "Account" and be sure those settings are what you want. Then tap on "Advanced" to see if you want to change any of those (perhaps some of the "Mailbox Behaviors" or other box settings aren't what you really wanted, and that's causing some of the confusion).

My ATT.net account is working fine with the default settings, but I don't use Exchange. Perhaps by refreshing this thread we'll catch the eye of someone who knows more about it than I.
