@LTT1: When will the IOS 11 be released?  So at that time I can no longer use the iPad? A friend has a Samsung Tablet that I can use but wondering if it will be complicated. I have a lot of photos on my iPad and no idea how to transfer them and no available computer. Thank you, Southern Bee

@SouthernBee

Apple Stores are not the only places to seek help.  You can also get help at an APSP (Apple Premium Service Provider) which may be available when an Apple Store is not.  CLICKY CLICK--->How to locate an APSP

Suggest that you post your issues in the

iPad Support Communities  if the suggestion here do not work out for ya.

@SouthernBee  The hard reset is when you press the bottom button and the off/on button at the top simultaneously until the apple logo appears, then wait for it to come back up.

There's an option under settings for backing up your data.

@Kachina624: ok - getting closer to another birthday and issues with memory and understanding stuff🤓. I have done the hard reset. I use my iPad for research, shopping and games plus the QVC community.. I Ike to escape for awhile each day and probably be in trouble when my iPad  stops.Thank you, Southern Bee

I know IPad 2 doesn't support the latest updates. Do you have an Apple Store near you? I know many people don't, but I would take it there. If not Google helps sometimes.

Did you shut it down and then try?

Not true.

I just recently updated my iPad Mini2 to most recent IOS 10.3.2..

Leading cause of slowdown or crash is lack of sufficient storage space, virus, or malware on iPads.  Clicking on email attachments from an unknown source is a leading source of infecting iPad with a virus.

          @EatWell@proudlyfromNJ is correct.    The iPad 2 no longer is compatible with new iOS 10 updates.   Yours, the iPad mini 2 is.

         From Apple.com this is the official list of the only devices compatible with iOS 10.0 and its subsequent versions.    (One great thing about these devices is that they won't allow you to download iOS updates if your device is not compatible.)

iPhone:

iPhone 7

iPhone 7 Plus
iPhone 6s
iPhone 6s Plus
iPhone 6
iPhone 6 Plus
iPhone SE
iPhone 5s
iPhone 5c
iPhone 5

iPad:
iPad Pro 12.9 inch
iPad Pro 9.7 inch
iPad Air 2
iPad Air
iPad 4th generation

iPad 5th generation
iPad mini 4
iPad mini 3
iPad mini 2

iPod:
iPod touch 6th generation

@SouthernBee

If photos are taking up lots of memory space On the device, the best solution for me is Dropbox.

Dropbox will "grab" (called automatic "Camera Uploads") all of your photos and store them on the web at this address.

www.dropbox.com

Another free service is Google +

It also "grabs" and stores your photos on the web

Droobox has provided great customer service when I have contacted them both by email and by phone.

It is safe and efficient -- and it is like a cloud service.

ICloud is probably very fast (dropbox isn't fast when it is uploading from iPad to Dropbox). But Dropbox stores all photos and videos (and other docs) for a nominal fee and free if the amount is under a certain size.

An important thing to realize is that if you enable "camera uploads" in Dropbox you must put the photos into folders FIRST before deleting from your iPad.

Apple customers are screaming about all of the problems because they want to free up space just like you and I do.

If you enable and pay for icloud, the process is probably quicker, friendlier, and more efficient.

          @SouthernBee,  Your iPad 2 no longer will accept iOS updates.   Since it sounds like you haven't been syncing it, that means there's a massive amount of "Diagnostic Data" stored on the device.

To see this, go to:

Settings-->Privacy-->Diagnostics & Usage-->and tap Diagnostic & Usage Data

          If it's not cleared out regularly, it gradually builds up to an incredibly unmanageable amount of data.   The only way to remove that data is with a sync/backup or doing as @Kachina624 said, erasing the entire device and starting fresh.   But you really need a recent backup before doing that.

          The older devices, such as the original iPad, the iPad 2, and the iPad 3, will have problems.    Some apps will no longer be compatible or cannot be updated.

          The problem you describe in your original post, I think is this:

          You open Safari, and on the internet you see some website pages continually crashing and reloading.    That's something which only marginally can be fixed by freeing up some space on the device.   To some extent, it's going to happen more and more as the new iOS versions are released and websites no longer play well with the old versions.

          There are some good suggestions for getting in-person assistance.   In some areas, local libraries or community centers have tech specialists who can help.    Sometimes even a community college might offer assistance.   I know you said you probably can't purchase...  but consider looking at refurbished iPads on the Apple website.    They are very good quality, have warranties, and cost less than the new ones.

          If your state has a "tax-free" weekend this summer (for back-to-school, but you don't have to be a student), in some states iPads qualify so you won't pay sales tax for items under a specified cap.    I also purchase with my Discover Card, and I use "Discover Deals" -- that way, I also get 5% cashback for the purchase.

          Just trying to brainstorm.   I know this is frustrating, and I wish I could walk over there and help out.
