Apple Support gal told me they like ppl to have this (Malware Bytes) on their Mac's...it's free. Was quarantined/poof !

Sadly, no. There are viruses and malware out there that specifically target Macs these days. In fact, both Macs and Windows machines are pretty comparable these days in terms of security, but neither is foolproof. Both OS's are pretty much bulletproof nowadays, but user error can open the door for viruses and malware to get in despite the security built into the OS.
