Who? The government for one. It has nothing to do with whether you're interesting or not. No one is excluded.

Hi, Ford! Steve Wozniak said quite publicly in 2012 that he didn't think so. (eta: I still have managed to stay away from using cloud services. I really don't like the concept, even though I understand its uses -- or maybe because I understand ... {#emotions_dlg.unsure})

Some of his comments: "Wozniak opened up in an audience Q&A about his concerns, predicting that cloud is “going to be horrendous. I think there are going to be a lot of horrible problems in the next five years.”

Wozniak also warned that “with the cloud, you don’t own anything. You already signed it away.” Instead, he urged that more data and applications remain local. “I want to feel that I own things. A lot of people feel, ‘Oh, everything is really on my computer,’ but I say the more we transfer everything onto the web, onto the cloud, the less we’re going to have control over it.”

(I took this from Forbes, but there were multitudes of articles about his opinion. Link: http://www.forbes.com/sites/joemckendrick/2012/08/06/apple-co-founder-steve-wozniak-distrusts-the-c...)

He did feel that way, I feel that way about many things, but the Millenial generation doesn't. They think everything belongs to everyone. They like open source code and they hate copyright laws. They don't own music, they own licenses to music. (As do most of us who've downloaded music onto an iPod or other MP3 player.) Many of them don't even want to own cars and prefer to ride share or use shared cars, like zip cars. They even rent their homes to people they don't know from sites like AirBnB. They do things I'm not comfortable with and people a generation before me, like the Woz, are even less comfortable with.

The whole idea of ownership is changing and has been even before the millennials. That is, in part, why some jerk felt that he (or she) could hack into celebrity accounts and steal pictures to post online. If you're a celebrity, you don't even own yourself, everyone feels entitled to know or see everything about you.

That's one reason I don't buy any of those magazines, like People or Us Weekly, etc. They all contribute to that model and anyone who buys them contributes to that model, as well.

Just because they can doesn't mean they do. They don't have enough man power for that. They're not reading all your email (I wouldn't mind if they read mine - I certainly don't read most of it!) or all of your text messages because they can't afford that. They have programs that look for key terms and then send people in to look at anything with too many suspicious key terms.

And if you turn your GPS and phone off, they can't track you physically.

Whoever thought that was a good idea in the first place?

Unfortunately, about anything that can be transmitted via air waves/satellite/cell towers etc., at some point there is a risk of it being found by some that use their skills to do questionable or bad things.

Don't know if this is in reference to the celebrities "scantily attired pix" or not. I will say that many of the things most people use the new technology is by choice. For storing certain things I see as questionably, at best, probably should not be put in/up if not necessary.

Everyone is subject to be hacked and as the saying goes, "it may not be if, but when"!

I know this, hckynut . . . all I'm saying is why upload all of your personal data deliberately? I concede that doesn't mean one is "safe," by any means. If you're on the Internet in any capacity, you can be hacked. I'm on Facebook, AOL, and all of my banking is done online. I realize how safe that is not.

I am so cyber paranoid, that I NEVER, EVER enter personal info on my comp much less pay bills or purchase anything using a cc. I pay all my bills by money order or checks using snail mail. Banking - I walk into my bank to conduct business. The only thing I have to worry about is the bank getting robbed. {#emotions_dlg.glare}

Not a member of FB either. Family & OFFLINE friends that live at a distance, we visit, call, iChat, Skype or snail mail each other.

It pays to be cyber paranoid. {#emotions_dlg.lol}

Apparently the hacks were the result of some celebrity passwords being guessed or stolen, not a security breach at the iCloud end. Apple took steps to further limit the number of attempts to guess a password, although it doesn't seem as if that happened in this case, either. So we can all breathe a sigh of relief. But it's still prudent to assume that anything on line can potentially be hacked someday by someone, and take reasonable precautions like using good passwords.

Well, you see, I have this problem. I need a wheelchair to get around . . . including the mailbox. And I have to rely on others to wheel me around since it's not a self-propelled wheelchair.

It appears you are more fortunate.
