I don't know exactly what you got from Apple but card readers are NOT expensive.

 

I would return "it" to Apple.  Take your MBP w/you to Best Buy.  Do NOT pay over $20.

 

Go on Apple's website, look for your model MBP & post your specs as well as advise which model you have.

Going to best buy tomorrow, never had any proplems with downloading on dells, just easy as can be.

When you lose some one you L~O~V~E, that Memory of them, becomes a TREASURE.

You don't plug your camera into the card reader.  You take out the SD card and it goes into the card reader.  There was no need for an external card reader unless you have a very old camera which uses something other than a SD memory card.

Even though there don’t seem to be enough ports, the article mentions that there are ways around the issue.
