a question about the Echo/Alexa

All the presentations I have seen about it do not show a "hook up".  Does it hook up to an app on your phone/tablet?

If you have this, or know about it, please let me know know.

Alexa is always "on" using your home wireless network. It connects to your smart phone or tablet using Bluetooth.

I have one and brought another from Amazon on Black Friday.

You should go to Amazon and "look" it over before you buy. There is plenty of info about this device.

You have to download the free Alexa app to set her up.  After she is set up, you really don't need the app anymore.  She just works on her own.  If you opt to  have lists (shopping lists or to do lists), those are on your app.  The lists are also found at echo.amazon.com.  You can print those lists from that address on your computer.

The echo is very easy to set up. It only takes a few minutes.

Re: a question about the Echo/Alexa

Thank you!  I did buy it from Amazon on Black Friday, but have only watched the presentation on QVC.  It is a gift for my adult son and I'm sure he'll love it!  Thanks again.

Alexa is a nice device. I use the app when connecting Bluetooth.

Re: a question about the Echo/Alexa

The phone app gives you a chance to really annoy people. There was a funny story shortly after Echo was released where the wife was in another part of their house using the app to see what her husband was asking Alexa to play. She'd then substitute a song as different as possible. He couldn't figure out what was going on and finally asked, "Alexa, have you gone crazy?" The wife then cued up Patsy Cline's song "Crazy." He was about to ship the Echo back when she confessed what had happened.
