Update on my crazy trackpad for dooBdoo

[ Edited ]

@dooBdoo

We conversed back and forth about the variety of issues I was experiencing with my MacBook Pro; the last being my erratic track pad.

Well I am happy to report I am off the wireless mouse and back in business with my track pad.

After reading, reading, and reading I finally stumbled upon a conversation between Apple users.  It said to clean the exterior and edges of the track pad with regular alcohol and then take a very thin piece of plastic and run it around the edges where the track pad fits into the case. Sometimes it can get gunked up.   Well it worked, at least for now.

I also noticed that the crevice on the right side of the track pad appears a little wider than on the left.  That also can create erratic behavior.  I have been carefully manually applying pressure down on the track pad to move it more to the right.  But very carefully as I don't want to press my luck.

I am so happy, if physically able. I would be doing somersaults.

And I have also added Firefox as a secondary browser.  I am gradually making the transition from Safari.

Thank you again for all your patience and sharing your knowledge.  I wish you and your family a very Happy Thanksgiving.

OH DEAR, I must have jinxed myself.....It worked for about 10 minutes and then I was back to the wonky track pad again.  No more hope for me but to travel to the Apple Store.

Hi, @Allegheny!  How thoughtful of you to post an update!  I haven't been around for several days, so I just now saw this thread.

I'm sorry the fix was temporary...  here's hoping you've found a permanent solution with Apple's help.  As I said in the other thread, I'm not a big fan of trackpads in general because all the brands seem eventually to have problems.  I hate that you're dealing with this, but you'll definitely become our "go-to gal" for trackpad questions in the future!Smiley
