Thanks nutmeg. I think I'm just going to take it back. It is really VERY difficult to use.

I need to now just make sure I don't leave passwords and stuff in it..

You want to set the computer back to it's out of the box condition.

Thanks nutmeg for information about solitaire. I will tell my son when he comes by to see if he can set it up. He still has 7. He was at Frys yesterday and bought windows 8 for dummies and another book.

I'm a long-term XP user who made the switch to Win 8 about a month ago. I decided that from the start I was going to use Win 8 as intended, instead of trying to make it be something it's not (another version of XP or Win 7).

The verdict: I love Win 8. I love the tiles, I love the touch capability and use touch a lot. I love all the ways I can customize it to suit my preferences and needs. I have no complaints and lots of praise for Win 8.

Me too, except my new computer has 8.1. Based on comments on the boards, I was really worried. I keep waiting for something to happen, but it hasn't. I like it.

The higher level supervisor tech I talked to last week at Premier PC Support told me that Win 8.1 is not really just an incremental update. It is a total system update, very broad based, with many changes over Win 8.0. Of course that doesn't mean much to me since I had only been working with Win 8.0 on my new computer for about a month.

However, if one is looking to buy Win 8.0 for Dummies thinking it will help them with Win 8.1, it might be a waste of money since so much of the program has been changed. At least this is what I was told. I have no idea if Win 8.1 for Dummies is out yet, and Win 9.0 is still probably a year away.

It annoys me that they think they have to completely change the OS every time they update. I can see "fixes" and minor improvements, but a complete OS change is, in my opinion, not only unnecessary, but wasteful. However, probably very profitable for Microsoft.
