Re: Windows 7, IE11 Problems

MJ Fan 4 Ever......... I run a business with the computer and use Windows Live for my email which I love and have no problems with. I am wondering if I download a new browser if I could still keep using Windows Live for all of my email. Sorry to hear that you are also having problems.

shoekitty........I totally agree with you. Sorry that you too are having problems. I have several friends who have switched to Apple for the same reasons that you gave.

glb613.......I hope that you get your email straightened out.

spabar.......I have a feeling that you are right. I am going to also call my server and ask them.

There is nothing wrong with my e-mail. I think you are confusing me with someone else.

Hi glb...........sorry for the mistake. I wanted to thank you for mentioning that I can have more than 1 browser and that it is good to have several. I did not know that. I am going to definitely do that. So if I want to keep Windows Live for my email I could still do that by opening IE? Thanks again.

Why not open a different browser, do a search for live mail and see what happens?

Re: Windows 7, IE11 Problems

I'm not sure what's causing your problems. I have Windows 7 & use IE11 with no problems. We don't have the computer set up for automatic updates. DH tells it what he wants updated. We also have Chrome installed but I rarely use it. Yes you can use Chrome & still use your Windows Live Mail. That's what I use. What kind of virus scan did you run? Are you using Malwarebytes? Click on the Tools tab go down & click on Compatibility View Settings. Make sure Display Intranet sites in Compatibility View & use Microsoft compatibility lists both have check marks in the boxes.

What happened to Microsoft? Why are their products so unfriendly the last few years. Windows 8 is about to kill me. I will get Apple next. I cannot handle IE, windows 8, nothing is compatible as I like.

Since you don't like Win 8 why don't you install the Classic Shell at www.classicshell.net DH has it installed on his laptop & my sister uses it on her. You may like it once you have the start menu.

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply to my angst! I have a new computer, and I do use Toshiba tile. When I go in that way the whole page is set up classic. However, I do need to go to classic and get the start up. I have a few friends with classic shell and they love it.

Hi glb.......I downloaded Chrome and also can still use IE to open my Windows Live email. Thanks for the suggestion. I am still having troubles with the computer so that leaves something with the computer or the modem. I doubt that it is the modem because it goes right where I want it to but once I start clicking on stuff the problems start. Mostly pages with pics on them so I am scheduling the fellow who set the computer up for us to come over to see what is wrong with it. Thank you for all your help.

Hi Nightowlz........Thank you for letting me know that you can still use Windows Live for your email. I would be lost without it! I am going to change my setting for the Windows updates so that I can decide what I want done. On my old computer I would usually wait a little while to make sure that certain updates were working well without any complaints. Thanks for reminding me of that setting.

I checked my Compatibility View settings and the both are checked. Thanks for telling me about them.

I use Norton as my antivirus program. At first I thought it might be that but I have tried it with having shut it off and it still does it. I noticed that there is an icon on here that I am not familiar with so I checked it out and it is Intel Management and Security Settings and I have no clue what it is. Could be that interfering with everything also. I think it is best if I have someone check it out. Thanks for your help.

I have Windows 7 and had IE 11. It worked fine for a little while, but now I can't go to Go To My PC, which I use to work from home. I have to open it in Chrome. Also, with IE, I can't open any You Tube videos (yet I can open QVC presentation videos). I got so tired of it, I downloaded Chrome (kept IE 11 for future needs) and am happy. Chrome works so much faster.

My one issue with Chrome is that in Google e-mail, it hides some of my e-mails. I was wondering why I wasn't getting any promotional e-mails from QVC, Sephora, etc... and it's because Chrome ever showed them in my Inbox. I had to put "QVC" or another name in the search bar and it showed all those e-mails. I don't understand why it hides e-mails. I miss so many that I didn't know came in.

Mine looks the same in Chrome or in IE. It has separate tabs for different types of email. Those emails are probably in the Promotions tab. I didn't care for that move, but you can get rid of that by deselcting the Social and Promotions tabs. Go to Settings --> Configure Inbox and deselect the tabs so that the only one checked is the Primary tab. Click Save and refresh the browser (or wait a few seconds) and it will update, removing the tabs and sending all your email to the Primary inbox.

I use IE for work because it's the browser IT supports, but I use Chrome at home and find it much easier to work with.
