What's the best way to go about updating pc's drivers ?

I"m getting the blue screen of death and it will shut down and restart itself

couple of times a day.

At the bottom half of page it says windows.com/stop/code

I went to U tube and that guy seemed to think it was a driver issue.

I thought all that was updated thru your Windows Updates that you get every 3rd Wed of the month ?

I get requests to update too.  I usually let it go for a month, two or more.

I feel like they're just getting my information.  I know, I'm paranoid, but I know people who tell me I'm not as paranoid and I have some truth to it.

I don't get to vote on it. They come in and start updating when you go to shut down you got 2 choices

1. update and restart

2. update and shut down

They won't let you 'shut down' for the night. Pick door # 1 or 2

Re: Windows 10 update drivers

And....when windows #10 came out - 'THEY" said this version was the crown jewel of all windows and would never never have to be updated.  (so much for that I guess)

I did have a recent update - but get them so infrequently I'm surprised by it.

Perhaps once of twice a year and get the same message you posted.  But never monthly.

@SharkE  I'm not a fan of windows 10, one reason is that updates are forced on me. XP gave me much better control over the computer that I owned and didn't belong to microsoft. Now I feel as if Microsoft just lets me borrow my own computer.

That now out of the way, I haven't loaded new drivers on my current laptop. But in the past I only needed new drivers when I added a new device, such as a printer. To get the driver downloads I went to microsoft dot com and pulled the drivers from there.

I am on microsoft dot com now looking at it.  Go to support at the top of the page and open that. I can't find anything that looks like drivers, but if you type drivers in the search window several items open up. But if you don't know what type of driver you need, doing this will likely not help you.

I think your first step is to decide what driver you need, or even if you need one at all.  Good luck.

Edited to fix typos because I can't type on an ipad.

Re: Windows 10 update drivers

@SharkE  I, too, am an apple fan, but I have windows on the laptop because it came with that, and I couldn't justify a mac.  Plus, when I worked it was microsoft all the way.  My first computer was an apple.  Some kid found one just like it recently in his parent's attic, and I got a laugh out of the news reporting it.  Back then, no operating system, just whatever program you loaded into the drive, and it was one big floppy.

When my husband and I decided to buy a home  computer, we went first to the IBM store.  Back then, I mean dinosaur time, it was IBM and apple in stores if I remember correctly.  He and I still laugh about what they told us when we walked in:  "There's no market for home computers, so we don't sell them."  Thus, we bought an apple.  Oh the good old days, huh!

@SharkE

Did you recently add a new device to your PC? You can update that device by going to the Device Manager Control Panel and right-click that device and choose Update Driver from there.

Also, do a Disk Cleanup.
