I have an old JVC turntable and cassette deck that's about 40 years old. They've been sitting around unused for probably 20 years or more. I quit listening to music ages ago due to my tinnitus. I guess I held on to them, hoping that someday, the tinnitus would go away, but obviously that isn't going to happen.

Don't think anyone would want to buy them, or would even accept them as donations. So, how do I get rid of them? Would appreciate any suggestions. Also looking for advice on how to get rid of old cassette tapes, CDs, and vinyl 45s and albums. I hate to part with them--I used to love listening to all my music--but can't stand it now because of the noise in my ear. Thanks for any help.

OUr local thrifts stores like Goodwill and Volunteers of America would take them, as long as they are in working order.

Call around locally, as there should be a place that would take them.

@qualityshopper I just want to tell you how sorry I am that you can't enjoy your music anymore.  That must be really hard for you, as a music lover.  

Any Goodwill in my area would take the donation.  Or if you have a neighbor or friend doing a garage sale ask if you can put them in the sale and put a really cheap price or free sign....someone will snap them up.

go to E-BAY those records may be worth a few dollars.DH had a laser disc machine with about 50 laser discs. our friend put them on E-BAY and we made $800. or go on the internet and check out prices,if you are willing to do a little work , like paying for postage and mailing them you might make a few dollars. remember one man's junk is another mans treasure

Old school LPs are really popular again among the younger group. There are record shops in my city that sell used LPs. These shops buy used records for resale. Check out shops near you. Last Christmas even Shopko was selling turntables and used LPs.

Those things are popular again! Perhaps a senior actiivties center, senior living community would welcome them.

Try to sell -- hipsters in the urban areas are discovering the joys of vinyl and tapes.

If all else fails, I might be interested in taking them off your hands. That JVC turntable is a good one!

Yes as lonestarbabs said lots of people would be interested in buying them...DH always looks thru albums and stereo equipment at flea markets and garage sales.  He owns 3 turntables and over a thousand records.  AS mentioned JVC turntables are a good brand....DW

This is off the subject sort of, I develop tinnitus a few years ago and found caffeine makes it a lot worse.
