I have a relatively new HP Envy.  Just the last couple of days, flashing gray circles appear and then I can’t type, my mouse doesn’t work, and pop up screens appear.  What is this?

Are you using this computer on here?  If so, then the problem is intermittent.

What do the pop-up screens say?

I assume you have turned off your computer since this started.  If not, turn it off.  See if that fixes the problem.

Run a complete antiviral scan.  Besides your own antiviral program, download Superantispyware free stand alone antiviral program.  Run that.  You can also try Malwarebytes.  I run both every week.  The reason is because not every antiviral program catch everything.

Update your mouse driver.  Think about needing a new mouse because I had problems with mine shortly after I purchased my computer.  Neither one may be the problem, but it's best to eliminate all possiblities.  If that doesn't work:

For Microsoft Windows, do a "restore" to a date prior to when these issues began.

If that doesn't work:

Did you get free tech support, usually a year, when you purchased this computer?  You can call now, then you won't need to look for the problem.

@wismiss

This looks like some Malware. Please go to Malwarebytes. Com and run this program. This could be the problem. Run the program twice.

You should be using a good quality anti-virus software suite and Malwarebytes

Please run Windows updates regularly and update your browsers.

I would reboot it then disable the touch screen. If the problem goes away then there might be an issue with the touch screen driver which might need updating. Those blinking gray circles are called 'ghost touching'. You can look that up and see if that's your problem.

Thank you for your responses.  I found a couple of minor viruses and ran for malware.  It is now OK.

Merry Christmas and thanks.
