What Kind Of TV To Get

I have a 36 inch TV that is 11 years old. It is so bulky and square shaped and I'm ready for something new. I know all TVs are HD now but I'm confused about some other things. What is the difference between Plasma, LCD, and LED? Should I get one with built in Wi-Fi and full web browser? Do I need to get a 3D capability set? Any feedback will be gratefully appreciated!
