Previously had Windows 7 and did free update to 10. When I type an email, the words are delayed appearing onthe screen? It hesitates when trying to back space also. Is there anything I can do to correct this. I'm on a laptop and never had this with 7.
Only happens when composing an email. TIA

That happens to me sometimes. A reboot usually fixes it.
If that doesn't fix it, you might be able to do a Repair on Outlook or Office, but I don't know which versions you're using. You can try a Google search for MS Office or MS Word Repair.

Are you writing your emails using Microsoft Word or from your email account?
The account online could be a slow connection or problem getting to the email server.
I would reboot your computer. This may help.
Windows 10 is a hardware based product. It will only update for a certain amount of time. Your computer at some point will not work. The question is unknown.
Please find a new computer, and backup your data.

@Nuttmeg - I am emailing from my Google Gmail account. It seems to be happening everytime. Will try rebooting again. My husband read that unlike 7 which updated frequently, Windows 10 only updates twice a year. Is this right? We have friends who have been using 10 for 2 yrs and their computers (both laptop and desktop) and their computers are still working. Why would I need to get a new computer? Thanks for your suggestions.

Win10 updates more than just twice a year. There have been several security updates and many other kinds of updates to operating software. I usually go and check to see if and when mine have been updated or not. You can update manually or have it set up to do it automatically. Just type Windows Updates in the lower left search bar. From there you can Check for Updates. For me personally, I prefer not to update the 'optional' ones.
Make sure whichever browser you are using is up to date also. Sometimes updating that will help problems from developing.
Do a Disk Cleanup (at least monthly) to get rid of old and unnecessary files. Those files can slow your system down. You can google search and see how to do a Disk Cleanup.
Here's an easy youtube video about how to do a Disk Cleanup:
