Today is Jan 26, 2020, I just realized I have e mails going back to Jan 2017, mostly from stores and emails from friends, I do not think there is anything I need to keep going back that far. How long do you keep e mails? Thanks all

If I feel the need to keep and email, I create a label and store the message there, otherwise, I trash once the conversation is over.

 I do not keep them. I read them and then I delete them, What is the point of keeping those things? I also delete text messages right away. It is best to get rid of those things right away!

If it is important, I'll file it.  

The rest, I delete.  I clean out my trash and junk mail boxes a few times a month.

I keep some work and personal emails for years.   Ads and commercial emails are deleted quickly.

delete 99.9 % as soon as I read them 

or they go to gmail trash then deleted

I keep important documents sent to me from various places. I upload them to my external drive so I will never lose them. Most other emails get deleted as soon as I read them.

I delete them as soon as humanly possible. Right now, I have 3 in my inbox. I don't have any in stored folders. 

I can't stand clutter and that includes email.

you can have your mail categorized

so all promos go to one list, personal to another, etc, social etc

I find it useful that way all the promos get deleted once I have skimmed them
