Upgrading Android motorola g7

I have not done this yet.  Is it necessary?  If you put your phone on auto-update does that really mean automatic or will I still need to reply to update reminders?

I usually open the Google Play store app, go to the upper left corner and click on the three lines at the top of the page. You then click the words Apps and Games. You will find apps needing to be updated. Your phone be set to download on WiFi. 

I update my phone every few days. 

 

Android upgrades will download automatically and ask me to install them. These upgrades will only work on WiFi. I only get an large Android upgrades every year. I do get security patches every so often. Each phone maker upgrades and patches on a different schedule. 

Motorola. Com will have information about your phone.
