I've had no trouble downloading library books onto my Nook Glowlight until.......the new Overdrive update. The book shows up after downloading, but I am unable to open. I can however open the book on my laptop. Anyone having same problem and have a solution? Answer much appreciated!

No. I would check to see if Nook or Overdrive have support sites, social media sites, or forums where you can get help. If a problem was caused by a new update, they will usually have a flurry of activity and updates.

Sometimes you can actually take your device to your local library and they're able to help you. I did that a couple times with my first Nook when I was having trouble with Overdrive and the ladies there helped me.

When you download you're given choices of downloading to read now, to Kindle or Epub.. I always choose Epub and never have a problem and I am updated.

Hi @danielsl,
Did you choose what kind of reader you have on the OverDrive website?
You can make that choice on there.
I would also choose the EPUB version for your e-book choice, as harcon suggested, since there doesn't seem to be a choice for Nooks.
That's the option that I choose for my Chromebook, since I'm not using a particular e-reader when I'm using OverDrive.
If you're still having trouble, I would also do like PamelaSue has done, and go into the library and ask for help there.

Barnes & Noble has finally identified the problem. It occurred when Overdrive did their latest update, which is exactly when I stopped being able to open a book after downloading from the library. The problem is only with Glowlight Plus, all other generations of Nook are not effected. They are expecting a fix in about two weeks. Yay!
