For about a month my Nokia G300 (Android version 11) has been showing me the temperature at the town where I am calling or texting someone.

Talk about non-essential information.

I can't figure out how to turn this off.

Help??

Could it be an app that you can remove?

@seehorse   I disabled the app "1Weather." That wasn't it.

Sorry I couldn't help. Some of this phone / computer stuff is so invasive and annoying.

Maybe someone else has the answer.

Good Luck!

@seehorse    Exactly. Invasive and annoying. It means something else is tracking my calls and texts.

@PickyPicky3

From what I could dig up, it's a new feature that's built into Google Contacts, and is gradually being rolled out to Android users. It gets the weather from weather dot com, if you have an address for a contact in the address field. Sounds like it can't be disabled, but there is a workaround. Remove the contact's address from the address field, and put it into the notes field.

You can do a web search for google contacts weather update to find some articles and discussions.

@Caffeina's solution is correct. For me this means manually moving all those addresses. Yuck.

Also, I put in people's street address AND the name of their apartment or condo. Unless the location field is completely empty, the temperature still shows.
