Everytime DH enters his password to sign in to his PC this morning, it keeps saying his password is incorrect. It is the same password he has used for years. He tried shutting it down several times and still the same problem.
Any ideas on what he can try?
After shutting down his computer for an hour, his password worked and let him on. Needless to say, he is relieved.
Thanks for those of you who were kind enough to respond.

It's case sensitive. Make sure if he's using both upper and lower case and symbols, that it's correctly entered.

Make sure the CAPS are not on. It also automatically locks for about 30 minutes after too many attempts.

@ciao_bella It is the same password he has used for years. Could he have a virus?

@cjm61 It hasn't locked him out from entering his password yet and he has tried several times.
The solutions that are offered online require a person to be able to get into the system in order to try. He can't get past the first page with the sign up window.
I am thinking we may have to call someone, but geez what a hassle.

@tends2dogs First restart (reboot) your computer. Sometimes that will help to clear/flush out temporary bugs and reset the process.
Next, you can try this:
On the sign-in screen, type your Microsoft account name if it's not already displayed. If there are multiple accounts on the computer, choose the one you want to reset. select I forgot my password link located below the password text box. Follow the steps to reset your password.

@ciao_bella He has rebooted several times and still can't get past that blue screen with the sign in window for password.
There is no place to type in his Microsoft account name. He is the only one with an account on that PC and there is no option to enter any other info. ....only his password which keeps coming up that it is incorrect.
I appreciate you reaching out. We are going to turn it off during church and retry afterwards. I guess he may be taking it to someone.

Can you confirm it is the correct account? Do you have more than one?
Since my first stroke I have found keying can be capricious. Perhaps you could give it whirl?

Maybe try going to this Microsoft Support site and troubleshoot the sign-in problem.
Search and follow the steps shown:
Also, try signing in using a different device like another PC or another tablet.

@SilleeMee I looked at these suggestions for trouble shooting the sign in problems, but we can't get past the page with the window for entering the password.
The only thing we could do was try rebooting the PC, which he has done several times without any luck.
OT Are you still liking your new computer? Was it a Windows upgrade and was it hard to get used to?
