I have to admit when we need a laptop we go to our 'computer guy' we pay to pick out the best laptop to meet our needs at the best price. When the laptop arrives we drop it off to him and it comes back with everything set up, loaded and ready to go.
I am looking at tablets for my mother as I have bought many........an I have to ask
WHY DO RETAILERS MAKE IT DO DIFFICULT TO COMPARE FEATURES?????
No wonder people shy away from buying!!
So often it is not the $$$$ that keeps people out the market of buying it is the overwhelming ! I am quite computer savvy and even I get annoyed and frustrated.
Does anyone know of a site that will shoppers to select different models and get side-by-side comparisons?

I open multiple tabs in my browser with the computers I'm interested in and compare. I also use paper and pen and write things down.

I think one reason is they would rather see customers in person so they can sell them a more expensive model than they need.
Apple has a good comparison tool. I don't know of an across the board comparison tool unless you try PC World or Consumers Reports or another rating agency.

Only option I've seen is to compare different models on the same website. When comparing prices on the same model between websites, you also have to look at the specs. It's very possible that the difference in prices is because of differences in the components used...CPU, amount of ram, hard disk size, etc.

Thank you for your help - so with a pen a paper approach looking at these 2 computers how does one compare:
Battery life using continuous web browsing?
Graphics performance?
Average screen brightness?
Performance and the speed of the processor?
I do not know how to convert the terminology to compare apples to apples. I am thrilled to find out how to do this, because when I go into a store they tell me they do not know, it is up to the consumer to make their own comparisions ?!?!?!? Thank you again @glb613
Paying a computer guy to do this every time a person wants to buy a computer is not available to everyone.

I only buy two brands of tablets Samsung Galaxy series, or Apple iPads. The S2 is the top brand by Samsung. An iPad would be best.

Yes, I was hoping there was magical site that one could compare computers using the SAME benchmarks.
Why does buying a computer have to be more difficult than buying a car?

I will say our tablets are Samsungs and iPads. Everyone prefers the Samsungs over the iPads. Family and friends (all ages) prefer the Samsungs in our house, if you snooze you lose and get the iPad......
WHY is the Samsung worth $200 more other tablets of the same size on the market......I have no idea really.
Apple will charge whatever they want because they are Apple and they have a market following (that I understand).

Samsung S2 tablets are on par with Note 5, S7,and S7 Edge smart phones. Retina display, fast processor, great wireless card, 3or4 GB of RAM.
The best Android tech for the moment. You can customize your tablet or phone to your liking.

I think retailers have always done this. They will call the same feature by a different name.
This is very bad with appliances. You can't compare a fridge at Famous Tate and Sears or a local dealer
And mattress companies will call the same mattress a different name at each retailer; a "Mohawk" at Macy's if the same as the "Indian" at Dillards. or the "Tribe" at Sears.
Never was sure of the purpose behind it!
