Spell Check?

Up until two days ago I had this on my pc since I do spell words wrong every once in awhile. Then yesterday I turned my pc on and the ABC check mark was totally gone. It looked just like the one to use here when you checking a message your leaving.Now I have new symbols at the top of the screen and I don't know how to get it back. Can anyone help me? As you can probably tell I don't know that much about computers, just he basics.
