I guess part of my concern would be  is he vindictive enough to do you even more harm on the internet or computer if you give him a piece of your mind?

If so, you might want to take a nicer, kinder reply (even if you even hate to ).

Good point. I am still waiting for him to get in contact with me. He sends me emails, texts or phone calls on a frequent basis (every day or so). His trying to add his email address to my account happened 3 days ago. I am shocked he hasn't chatted with me in 3 days.

I am still waiting to hear what he has to say.

Sounds like he wants to use your internet provider so he doesn't have to pay for his own. Wouldn't he have to be within the range of you router though?  Maybe I am missing something.

I can access my internet account from anywhere. I don't need to be just in the range of my router.

And you are so right. He is more than happy to have someone else pay for any service that he uses.

Re: Someone trying to add alternate email address to my online account

@drizzellla,  have you contacted your email provider's security department to inform them there have been repeated attempts to make changes to your account?  Refer to the verification numbers you have received and provide all pertinent information so your account can be protected by the provider.

If you have not already done that you should. Simply relying on you receiving the verification number alone is risky.

You are using a internet signal from either cellular, someone's network or a business.  It sounds to me like he is trying to add himself to your account as an owner.  You need to change your main sign-in password if you have multiple e-mail accounts.  I would also contact my internet provider and explain the situation.

In order for him to use your home internetl, he needs to be close enough to your router to pick up a signal.  I can get a strong signal out in the street in front of my house.  My network is password protected so prople can't steal my service.  Are you password protected?  If not, anyone can steal your bandwidth as long as they are close enough to pick up the signal.  Get into your router settings to make any changes.

Re: Someone trying to add alternate email address to my online account

@Marp You bring up an excellent point. I started a file of all the emails from the online service provider.

I have not contacted them in many many years. Not since I got my first home computer. Yes, many years ago. It was difficult talking and understanding them back then. And all they seemed to do was read from a script. So I always steered clear of dealing with them.

But I think it is time to address this situation with the online provider before he figures out how he can be added to my account.

Re: Someone trying to add alternate email address to my online account

@gadgetgal613  Thanks.

I have one email account that I use. And that is the account he wants to be added to. I do have another account but have no idea what my password is. So have never used it.

Yes, the router is password protected. I suspect he tried to get into our home internet in the past. And couldn't do it. He used to set up his computer and use it throughout his visit. But the last visit he didn't set up his computer.

I appreciate your input. And yes time for me to call my internet provider. Maybe I can put a "freeze" on my account like I have on my credit.
