If you want a car music player, get Sirius! You can drive coast to coast and never change the station! If you want something at home, NO! There are more options like Pandora, Spotify, Slacker, Apple, Tunein Radio! Sirius will cost you about $15 a month and when you fall in love with it you'll want the app on your pc or phone and that's another $3...I have it in my car but I only pay $50 a year...if they raise my rate than goodbye! You can find every type of music through all the services and if you really like one you can pay from $3 to 10.00 a month! Try Tunein radio and you can listen to any radio station in the world! There are so many free options to listen at home!

You should be able to set it up that way. You have a few options of how to get the music you want.

You should be able to check what you need to buy/have on the Sirius website. Is your TV set up with your Yamaha speaker system? I do know you could listen to Sirius by streaming it through a Roku on your TV. There is a Sirius Roku station. I paid about $35 for a Roku streaming stick & have it plugged into my TV. I often listen to Pandora radio that way. Like you, I don't  want to listen to my music through my laptop.

Honestly, Since you want a specific genre rather than variety, I'd look into a few different ways before purchasing. I think Sirius has a free trial & Pandora has a free version as well as a free trial of their paid (no commercials, though the free version has very few commercials) one.

XM Radio will be the perfect choice to hear 50's and 60's music.

I like background music when I am driving. When I am playing music at home I like to "rock the house". I play Watercoolers, and "Heart &Soul". H&S has real live DJ's.

Please call the company and ask them to help you. XM is pricey, but it is old style radio.

Talk  to CS, and ask them to waive or reduce the activation fee.

OK so for what you want then you should go with SiriusXM. Go to their web site and pick up a Onyx plus with home kit, about $50..Go with the colored screen....monthy rate $16-19.00. You will get a little magnetic antenna that needs to either be put outside or near a  window to pull in the signal. They usually come with about 20 ft of antenna. You can also buy a bigger antenna, but no need if you get a good signal! The home kit comes with a dock that you can connect to your system through RCA input jacks..That's it. You can pick up a car dock kit also and use the same radio in your car also! One thing to consider, Sirius does have a limited playlist on the decade channels but if you like other types of music you can always change channels!

I'm getting a general dea here that I might be able to get my treasured Ch 148 in my house by using some of the suggestions you folks have made.

May have to reseach this more when I get time.

If you only want 50s and 60s music you should be able to find a local radio station that plays that. Doesn't every area have an oldies station? Besides the fact that all that music is extremely cheap to purchase and compliations are readily available.
