I understand....my husband sets everything up. Otherwise I would have to ask someone to help me. He has the smart phone. I have the flip phone 😄

LOL,
I started downloading video content from the web in 2003. I have a first generation TV from 2004. I do have a smart TV from 2011.
I usually watch TV on a tablet using an app. I have more control and buy a fresh device every few years.
I probably will cut the cord in a year or two. I don't believe that I will miss regular TV.

@chickenbutt - I have read several places that as of mid-late November 2020 HBO Max is available on Amazon devices including the Firestick. So, maybe not all is lost?

@Nuttmeg - I know you are really tech savvy from other posts. I just skimmed over the post about making a smart TV dumb and afterwards realized you were answering chickenbutt's question (sometimes the formatting on these posts makes it hard to distinguish). I think we were using dial up in 2003... :-)

I recently purchased a Vizio smart tv during a phenomenal sale at Walmart, as a merry Christmas to me present for the bedroom. The setup was VERY confusing for us, but after several trips to YouTube, and a few choice adjectives, the mystery was solved.😁
I now LOVE it!

Yes, it is. I've been using the Fire Stick to watch Max.
As I also mentioned, now it's going to be on Roku too, but there was nothing about that when I decided to also purchase a Stick. I'm just glad I didn't spend much $ on the Stick ($18), although I do have much more invested in Roku units. Oh well. Tivo will probably have it at some point, also. I'm getting used to the Fire Stick, but I like the Roku much better so it's too bad they didn't get HBO Max until I bought the stick. If I can find or remember my Max password I might try putting it on the Roku also. As of now, darn it, I can't remember what it was so at least the Stick is signed in already. ![]()

I have a Roku that I used before I bought my latest Samsung. The TV came with builtin icons so I stream HBOMax, Netflix, Disney Plus and Apple TV just by clicking on the icon. Of course you need highspeed Wifi which I purchase from Comcast. I am self- taught on electronics and if I have questions, I use YouTube or Google.

LOL It was very slow internet. Dial up may have been faster, but dial up had a cap.
