Has anybody here bought a new router lately?

I think I need new one as I have Lynksis that needs to be replaced,

too many on Amazon to sift through although I put a couple in my cart.

Love to hear what others have bought

Haven't bought one lately but when I do I will make sure it is an AC, which to my understanding is the latest and the fastest available now. Brands you have heard of are almost always, in my opinion, the best choices.

I have a better modem and a Linksys N wireless router which works well for me. Before you go out and buy an AC router, make sure it will work with your older devices. If it doesn't have the option to broadcast in G, N and AC, your older devices won't connect. I really don't use my G device anymore (Wii), changed the setting from mixed to N only and can tell a difference. I also did a speed test comparing the settings and there was a difference.

I brought a Netgear 4300 in April 2013. It runs very well. I use this router with a laptop, Internet radio, wireless printer, and a few tablets. I forgot my cell phone. It is a dual band product. It runs in 2.4 , and 5.8 GHZ. It took about 20 minutes to set up. You may want to read reviews on Amazon. The price is the same in most big box stores.

Here is another mainstream product an Asus RT-N66U . You may want to buy two products and try them (field test) in your home. These products are sold at most Big Box stores. Some stores do not have restocking fees.
