I like to buy this I need your help fo anyone that has a Roku and answer my question. please if you can.

I have a HD t.v not 4k and have an antenna already I want to add Roku to my Living room t.v.

not sure  if this TSv is what I am looking for I only need some cable stations like QVC and HSN & maybe CNN and Lifetime or Hallmark and some Local channels news sports and other local channels.

I do not need to buy or watch Netflix or Hulu  shows or movies is the Local stationa and how many channels  are included in this   Q2 TSV?

And the diffrence between this| Box" this TSV  looks like a modem or the STICK Roku?

Which one should I buy? there is a few to choose from I do not know the diffrence is this a New Model  and better?  or more channels? I like more channels local.

If you do not have a 4K TV, you can save money by getting an older Roku device, like the Roku Streaming Stick (not the Stick+, which has 4K).

No stations are included with a Roku - not exactly. Roku is not a content provider, like your cable company or like Netflix, it's just a delivery tool. Instead, Roku offers Apps/Channels that you can add to the system and play content through. Some Apps are free, like the QVC App. Others, like Netflix, Hulu, and HBO, require a subscription.

You can get local TV through some of the subscription Apps, like Hulu with Live TV, CBS All Access, or Slingbox. Some local channels have Apps you can download, but you may have to log into them with a login from your cable TV service. There are other services that can get you free local content, but you may not always get exactly what you want. You may also be able to purchase and use an antenna for some free local stations.

You can read more about local channel options with a Roku device here: https://blog.roku.com/how-to-watch-local-channels-news-and-weather-on-your-roku-player-and-roku-tv

@Ttownlady.  What do you get on the antenna you have?  I have a simple interior antenna that gets me the local NBC, ABC, CBS, and PBS channels.  I also get QVC, Q2, JTV, and HSN as well as a bunch of Spanish, religious and channels playing old sitcoms.  I subscribe to Sling for about $40/mo and get HGTV, Travel Channel, NatGeo, History, WE, Lifetime, diy, fyi, A&E, CNN and some sports channels.  I get free movies on Prime Video.

@Ttownlady.   Thanks for your kind words.  You must have the Mohu antenna, which is what I have.  I'm in the Albuquerque area and get about 50 channels.  They work best in urban areas.  If you get a Roku, you can use it to access Sling.  Roku serves as a gateway to other viewing choices.  There are movies but they have commercials unlike Netflix.  Many of their movies you must pay extra for so I never watch movies there.

I believe Element is Best Buy's brand of TV.  Good luck with your pursuit of TV gadgets.

Most of the boxes are the same. Roku was the first and Amazon's marketing team stupidly decided to use the same words (Kindle/Fire) for multiple items, making it confusing to talk about their products.

The Chromecast, Roku, Apple TV, Fire Stick, and Fire TV all basically do the exact same thing with a few key differences:

  • Amazon's TV devices do not offer a QVC App because they're marketing competitors (UPDATE: Amazon TV devices now do offer the QVC app and HSN Shop by Remote.)
  • Apple TV lets you browse content from over 100 video services without switching from one app to the next.
    • Others make you open and check each app to see what each company provides, so it's a hassle.
    • That convenience comes at a cost. The HD Apple TV is about $100 more expensive than a Roku stick.
  • Apple TV is about to move from being just a signal delivery system to becoming a content provider.
    • The will be releasing original programming starting in Spring of 2019.
    • It sounds like Apple may limit all their original content to their own devices and not share with Netflix or be available via Roku or any other delivery devices.

It sounds like a Roku Stick will be a great option for you. Enjoy!
