Thank you for this explanation.  My question, is why I want to watch so filled with ads?  They are everywhere.  It is so annoying.

What do you think?  They are broadcasting out of the goodness of their heart?  If you want "free". you need to dea with ads.

I'm sure you have probably already made your decision since I'm just now replying.....I understand you want your local channels, so yes, you should go with an over-the-air antenna (which can be bought at Walmart - I have a few different brands, ranges and prices and the cheapest one is just as good as the most expensive one) - just play with moving it certain ways, certain places to get the most channels (as another replier referred to the good old days of the rabbit ears)....if you want to make your tv a smart tv, then I would purchase a Firestick or Roku (there are so many apps that offer a lot of free tv, ie the PlutoTV app is amazing).

Me too!
I thought a "ROKU" was a TV.

I thought I could just "plug" it into my computer and watch internet shows.

Good thing I didn't buy one.   Woman LOL

It's not a really old, CRT type, TV is it?  As long as you have an HDMI port to plug it in (which would be on any HDTV, AFAIK) you're good.
