If you saved a LOT of money (like with a used car) buying a refurbished computer, it might be worth it. Most of the time, it's not that much. Windows based computers are so cheap, I'd buy new.

I'm typing on a HP refurbished NETBOOK (remember them? Perfect size of 10"")

which I bought in 2008...and it runs perfectly.

Try TIGERDIRECT .com and on the left- hand side there should be categories to search--or simply type in ""refurbished Windows 8 15"" laptop"" (or whatever specs. you are looking for).

I was so pleased w/my purchase that I then bought a SECOND refurbished Netbook--a white 11"" LENOVO which is also going strong!

I always wondered why the pc manufacturers did away w Netbooks for awhile. They do everything a Laptop does except not have a dvd/cd drive. They are the perfect size too.

I did laugh when they started selling attachable keyboards for Tablets--I said--that's a Netbook now! heh

Anyway---good luck and let us know your decision!
