Re: QVC problem with Dell computers

I bought my Dell from QVC I looked around in the stores went to Dell's website HP website called my cousin that use to work for IBM before he started his own business he uses Dell's in his office and has three Dells in his home I told him the computer I wanted to buy he checked the specs and went to Dell's website to see if I could get a better deal there he said you are getting a better deal on QVC that's when he told me his kids computers were bought from QVC.

I asked if it was a good computer he said yes I needed something for my pictures and scrapbooking he said Dell has always been good computers so on his advice I bought one.

He said Dell has standards to follow and it does not matter if you buy from Dell's website or a store or a shopping channel all Dell's are made by Dell and all the parts are the same unless you upgrade buy better parts if your having your computer built. My cousin told me if you want the top of the line in any computer you have to pay for it.

Re: QVC problem with Dell computers

I'm convinced the number one thing you need to look for when buying a notebook computer is vents on the side. Apple vents through the keyboard but I don't think any other company does. Why, because heat buildup is one of the main reasons a notebook/laptop fails. There are other reasons such as defective hardware but, it doesn't happen that often. I usually watch one or two of QVC's presentations when they have a computer as a TSV and I've never seen enough of the computer to tell where the vents are located. They also rarely publish the model number so you can check it out.

No matter what is posted by satisfied customers, QVC doesn't always have the best value. What QVC does have is EZ pay which I think is why most people buy here.

If you think so, fine. Most people buy from QVC for the EZ pay.

Frustrating that Dell/QVC ordering is so problematic. The QVC channel/info does a great job advertising. Wish their delivery/customer service matched. After research & consideration time of these computers Dell or QVC can't fulfill orders or has you order and then cancels without contacting customer. Had to cancel credit card authorization with QVC to prevent being billed for cancelled computer--additional hassle. But better safe than sorry. Deals look good but lots of complaints on Dell/QVC reviews. Unsure how good a Dell/QVC deal actually is when ordering/actual delivery is problematic.

Anyone have experience with arrival of malfunctioning DELL laptops & how QVC return policies actually play out? Is the 30 days from arrival or order date (Dell takes about 30 days to ship after order date--is this a problem?)?

Are you the OP too?

Not everyone uses ez pay and it's there choice not mine.

Re: QVC problem with Dell computers

I wish everyone would research electronic devices, online or in local b&m stores, before buying from QVC. On QVC you'll frequently see older models bundled up with overpriced, low quality accessories and software, much of it not needed by the customer. Also, many companies offer interest-free payment plans for a specified number of months. Add to that the outrageously expensive shipping and handling here, along with constant delivery problems and declining quality of customer support, and I have a difficult time finding a reason to choose this company for electronics. Sorry, QVC, but your company's not what it used to be.

Plus too many people need or want EZ pay no matter what autumnsunset says.

Re: QVC problem with Dell computers

I did my research before I bought my computer from QVC I went to the stores I checked Dell and HP websites. I read articles then I called my cousin who worked for IBM for over 20 years I told him the computer I was interested in and my price range he checked around and the specs he said it was a good deal on QVC and I trust my cousin. Why should it matter if people shop for electronics on QVC it's there choice and if they need the ez pay I see nothing wrong with it.
