I had a hard time downloading Windows 8.1 yesterday. I finally called PC Support and talked to four techs (and each of them took over my computer) before it eventually got installed correctly. I was honest in my evaluation of each incident. One of the techs had told me I had "bad system files." This is a brand new computer! Anyway, I was honest in my reviews (not nasty). It had taken hours and hours to get this done . . . I wound up being so sorry I did it. However, Windows 8.1 is on my computer now.
At 8 PM last night, one of the supervisors called me to discuss my comments. He was wonderful. He wanted to know everything that happened and in what ways I was disappointed. We went over each installation, and I tried to remember what I could. He did have notes from each of the techs as to what occurred during their sessions with my computer online, so he must have talked to them in advance. They obviously took it very seriously. My main concern now is it seems the computer is running much slower now than prior to 8.1 being installed.
We made an appointment for Monday night at 5 PM when I will ask for him directly and we will find out what is wrong and get it fixed.
I happened to mention I was an old "DOS" girl, and we began a good half hour or more reminiscing about the early 80s when computers first started coming into businesses and the IBM PCs cost $10,000 each for two floppy drives! The ones with one hard drive cost $20,000, can you believe that? We had a wonderful time talking about all the old and new technology. He seemed in no hurry at all. And we will talk again tomorrow. I have to say it was a very enjoyable experience. These techs are located in Tampa, FL, and ALL of them are there, they do not transfer anyone out of the country. They are located in one facility.
They are the tech service we Q customers call whether we purchase a Dell or an HP, and they also provide tech service for other computers.
I just thought you would like to know that if you purchase a computer from the Q, the Premier PC Support is the real deal!

Ford, thank you for your evaluation. It's good to know they will follow up with a less than satisfactory call. That means as much to me as someone saying every call is great, because that just doesn't happen. But when a company pays attention to the customer and corrects a problem, or at least acknowledges one, I appreciate that.
I just purchased an HP with Premier Support, so this was reassuring to me.

Yes, it is very reassuring indeed. So if you have any problems with the techs or your computer, you should feel free to make that known to them. Like cars coming off the assembly line, not 100% of computers are going to be perfect.

Well, now I'm concerned that it will take hours!!--I hate that when you think it's going to be automatic and turns into a whole day lost! What kind of computer did you buy if I may ask? I got the Dell but already had a mixup with the Q which I won't go into- actually debated about sending it back because it was mis-handled so badly both from Dell and the Q. I still am on the fence and am waiting on the Q rep to call me later today. It's now over a month that I 've had it -- ( again- won't go into why I haven't downloaded 8.1) needless to say I am upset---- BUT I was also under the impression you couldn't order it after 30 days ( starting with the date ordered- not received) Some people on another post say they've ordered it after a year-- when the company's warranty expires. I'm confused over this- I hadn't purchased the extra support within the 30 days- ( which I will take up with the rep) but can you buy it after a year????TIA

I ordered the Dell TSV on March 16 EDD was April 14 then it went to April 21 then to May 5 then to Backorder when I contacted qvc all they could tell me they had no idea when it would be shipped. So we cancelled the Dell and ordered the HP TSV laptop that was on April 13 EDD 5/2/2014 which is next week I look for it to ship this week.
Ford Thank you for posting about Premier Tech Support because that is what I have with the HP TSV I'm waiting on good to know you had a good experience using there service.
I just updated our HP all in one a few months ago to 8.1 I had no problems I just went to the windows store and clicked update it didn't take that long as least I didn't think so it went smoothly for me.

Just be careful of the techs taking over the software on your computer even if they have your permission they could take out information you might not realize they are doing [that is how good they are] this happened to me when I had a problem with Norton anti virus and I allowed the tech to take over and the next day I woke up I could not do anything with the computer. I called Norton gave the CS man the name and he said no one by that name works at Norton. I had to have a tech come in and pay 199. dollars to have the computer work again. Now I call Norton by phone and get the directions and work on the problem myself which is perfectly easy for me to do.

Apparently I had problems with my system files and that's why it wouldn't load easily. I only had the computer (Dell) for a month, so I have no idea how my system files got corrupted.
Anyway, I will call the supervisor tonight at 5 PM and talk with him, as he invited me to do. However, I have to say my computer is running just fine now.
Now comes the hard part of learning how to use Win 8.1. I hadn't even learned how to use Win 8 yet!! I just converted my screen to my comfortable old Win 7 screen and all of my shortcuts . . . but I really should try to learn how to use 8.1 because Win 7 is certainly never going to come back.

We purchased our first computer from QVC years ago, and their support staff was fantastic. One time they spent close to an hour on the phone with me.
