Photos from camera to PC

I can't use firefox anymore so using Edge. I installed the cord and a selection came up to choose from, my dog jumped on me and I chose the wrong one. Chose to do nothing or something like that. Now I can't download my photos. I did go on the manufacturers site and can download what I assume will bring the photos in but don't want to download it a second time which may cause more of a problem. Where can I find the download. I think hitting the do nothing turned off the download and trying to change it to allow the downloads. Anyone know how to fix this? In short, reverse what I hit.

You don't have to download whatever software you already have a second time. If you don't have a shortcut to it on your desktop, look in the apps list via the start menu. I don't know what you have, but if you open it, it should guide you to download the photos.

You also use your File Explorer to download photos. Open File Explorer, then This PC. You should see whatever you've connected under Devices and drives. Right click on it and you should see your software in the menu.

I know how to download photos but I guess I must have blocked it when I hit the wrong thing. I do get the sound on my computer indicating my camera is connected but no schedule comes up where to put it, usually it's pictures, one drive, etc. I think if i can pull up the schedule I can hit the right destination but that won't pull up. I checked This PC and just the C drive and DVD drive came up. I opened the C drive and see no camera listed.

You need to choose a default program to import your photos. My other post with instructions was deleted so, I suggest you go to google and search for the answer.

I did go into my settings, apps and defaults and photos. Some defaults came up but nothing that I think I could put into my pictures folder or one drive. I reset the defaults and the same came up for photos. My camera sound came on again when I put the camera into the computer but no where to put the pictures, paint and a few others came up. The windows photo app was there but that's what i was using set by windows. I did try to take some photos from my phone and it did the same thing, just a sound that the camera is connected but no selection came up.

I have a Mac so, I'm at a bit of a disadvantage. When I want to import photos, I plug in my phone or camera, open Photos, the device shows up on a list and I double click on it. It doesn't happen automatically, Try opening your photo program, plug in your camera or phone and see if you can import that way. Another option, do a system restore to a point before this stated and see if that fixes it. My guess is, you had a list of choices and you accidently select dont automatically import or sometihng similar.

gadgetgal613, Thank you, thank you. I opened the photos from the start page which took me to the listing and attached the camera. The pictures page opened and said to import which I did and they downloaded. This has been bothering me for awhile since I do take photos. I searched the computer for days trying to find a solution and couldn't find a thing. I'm using Edge and it's all new to me since I've always used Firefox. After using Edge I find that the benefit of Firefox is so much more than I thought. I could find everything fast on Firefox but find Edge is not as easy. I have been looking for a new computer but so many have bad reviews. I don't game so not interested in those. I would love to find one like I have. Not investing any more money into this one since I don't have Windows 11 in it. Thank you again. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Kismet
