I started out with one 7" Kindle Fire HD. I wanted the bigger Kindle Fire HD, but they weren't out yet and we were leaving on a trip and wanted one. So I settled for the 7" wifi only HD. A couple months later I went ahead and bought the 9" Kindle Fire HD (3G version). I own my own business, so I can "play" when it isn't busy. I took the 9" Kindle Fire to work to watch Netflix on and to play games.

Zoom to a year later when the Kindle Fire HDX came out. I wanted to upgrade both of them, but couldn't make myself spend that much money. Since the 9" kindle HD 3G was so expensive, I decided to upgrade the cheaper 7" HD. I had all intentions of selling my 7" HD. After I got the new 7" HDX, I decided I wouldn't get that much out of my old 7" HD, so I kept it. I now leave that by my bedside all the time. It is very handy when I go to bed to read on or play games.

So I have 3. My bigger Kindle HD will be 2 years old and I don't know if I'll upgrade that one this year or not. Depends on what features the new one has.

I no longer need the 3G feature, so when I upgrade, I don't think I'll get that. I have a Samsung Note 3 phone that I can use when I need 3G.

Counting my BIG phone, I have 4! LOL My husband has never touched any of them. He isn't interested at all.

I do have chargers for all of them so there is a charger by where I keep each one, it is so much more handy.

YIKES! I forgot I have a Paperwhite too. LOL It is small and so handy to carry around and the battery lasts so long.

I have FIVE!

I must be terribly rich just like William!

Or sadly both of you are addicted to these gadgets.

I was totally joking. Actually one of my five tablets is a phone. I actually use my phone for business and keeping track of appointments and things I need to do concerning my store. One is just a reader, no different than having books. I have two at home and one at work making my 5. I know two at home is overkill, but I replaced my Kindle HD with a Kindle HDX. No more than I was going to get out of the HD, I kept it. I keep it by my bed so that if I can't sleep, I get on it and play. It doesn't bother my DH while he is sleeping like turning on the TV would.

Much better being addicted to electronics than to booze or drugs.

Well, if you make that comparison yes... but, still not a healthy lifestyle. JMH {#emotions_dlg.mellow}

? I'm not getting what having electronic gadgets has to do with health. I work, eat healthy, go places with DH, I go to the gym and I play on my gadgets when I'm bored. What's not healthy?

We have two - the iPad is THE BEST....BUT - it cannot use Adobe Flash, and many ''You Tube'' things are only visible using Adobe Flash - so husband also got an Android system tablet (a Lenovo) I don't watch You Tube...but he is a car nut and it is a must. The apps for the Apple system seem so great and more choices than the Androids. Someone said Adobe Flash is being discontinued????? so it may not matter in the future. Apple and Adobe do not care for each other.

That's not true. All you need is the YouTube app. You can watch everything you want using an iPad.

Re: Owning Multiple Tablets - Reasons?

I bought the Nexus 7 (16 gb) when it first came out. Now I have an Ipad Air (32 gb). My old Nexus is like a dinosaur compared to it, plus the sound quality has gone, so I want to upgrade to the new generation Nexus. But still just want a 7 inch because I love how I can hold it in the palm of my hand.

Also planning to get an Amazon Kindle HDX--8.9. Probably before Christmas.

The Nexus, the ipad, and the Kindle are all good for different things. The Nexus is an android so you have access to the google play store. Plus it's small enough to carry in a purse. With the ipad you have the Apple store, plus it's better for surfing the web and doing actual work on. The Kindle is great to read on, plus you have access to the entire Amazon content. And you can download movies and TV shows and play them on your TV!

What's not healthy ???? I will tell you.[some] People in general have a preoccupation with their small gadgets even driving while they are texting or people are on their cell phones all the time. The fact that most people are on these gadgets most of there day or night "Playing" with them as you say takes away time for family and many other important issues that might come up. I have some of these gadgets myself and go on them only when I have to. I do not have to keep them always charged up. Like most folks have mentioned on other threads. The stress level alone if the gadget breaks down or does not work the way it is suppose to raises blood pressure in some people and makes them nervous and anxious. Now scientists are saying too much time dedicated looking at a screen can cause headaches and might do damage with eyesight and might cause seizures with some folks who play games where there eyes are riveted to the screen for hours on end colors and lights flashing , some people get lost on these things which is another danger. My point is too much of a good thing is no good. And if you think I am making this up "Google too much activity on a electronic device" or "Debate. Org." and see what comes up. Pretty scary stuff! Enjoy your gadgets folks in moderation.. Just a heads up!

Matty6, you are assuming too much about me. You are way off. BTW, you can have ONE device and be addicted.

Re: Owning Multiple Tablets - Reasons?

I have one Kindle HD and one Nexus 7 (Samsung). I bought the Nexus first and then I was on Amazon so many times and figured there were some advantages to having it. I basically use them for the same purpose except I am more comfy reading books on my Kindle. I think it is made for it.

mima, I am not assuming anything about anyone so don't get yourself in a bunch. This was something that I read online. And "BTW" thanks for making that point with one device being addictive. The point is these gadgets are addictive. If you have one of more of these things it does not matter as I said before moderation folks.

Re: Owning Multiple Tablets - Reasons?

I bought the IPad 2 which I love. It is a bit large to Carry around and I didn't have an iPhone, so I got a Kindle HD. I have always had Kindles,to read books. I rarely use my Kindle, because there is Kindle, for IPad, but it is good for outings. If you don' t mind carrying a larger tablet, I'd just get an IPad. The apps cost more tho'. I also do most of my shopping on Amazom and feel some loyalty to them, but they can't compare to the IPad.
