I have 5 tablets I think if you inclue the e-ink paperwite. or what ever its called. My primarytablet is the ipad air and I love it. I live in a questionable neighborhood and do not want to take it to my park when I read outside so I use my kindle hdx for outside reading. My galaxy 3 was a freebe from sprint which I regret being suckered into for its a horrid tablet. I purchased my acer 7.9 on a whim. I do not need one but I wanted a new toy lol.

We have two - the iPad is THE BEST....BUT - it cannot use Adobe Flash, and many ''You Tube'' things are only visible using Adobe Flash - so husband also got an Android system tablet (a Lenovo) I don't watch You Tube...but he is a car nut and it is a must. The apps for the Apple system seem so great and more choices than the Androids. Someone said Adobe Flash is being discontinued????? so it may not matter in the future. Apple and Adobe do not care for each other.

I have an iPad Air, iPad Mini w/Retina Display, Kindle Paperwhite (plus a couple of other older Kindles), and an HP Touchpad. My iPads get the most use.
No logical reason really. I just like electronic gadgets.

So I settled for the 7" wifi only HD. A couple months later I went ahead and bought the 9" Kindle Fire HD (3G version). I own my own business, so I can "play" when it isn't busy. I took the 9" Kindle Fire to work to watch Netflix on and to play games.
Zoom to a year later when the Kindle Fire HDX came out. I wanted to upgrade both of them, but couldn't make myself spend that much money. Since the 9" kindle HD 3G was so expensive, I decided to upgrade the cheaper 7" HD. I had all intentions of selling my 7" HD. After I got the new 7" HDX, I decided I wouldn't get that much out of my old 7" HD, so I kept it. I now leave that by my bedside all the time. It is very handy when I go to bed to read on or play games.
So I have 3. My bigger Kindle HD will be 2 years old and I don't know if I'll upgrade that one this year or not. Depends on what features the new one has.
I no longer need the 3G feature, so when I upgrade, I don't think I'll get that. I have a Samsung Note 3 phone that I can use when I need 3G.
Counting my BIG phone, I have 4! LOL My husband has never touched any of them. He isn't interested at all.
I do have chargers for all of them so there is a charger by where I keep each one, it is so much more handy.
YIKES! I forgot I have a Paperwhite too. LOL It is small and so handy to carry around and the battery lasts so long.
I have FIVE!
I must be terribly rich just like William!
Or sadly both of you are addicted to these gadgets.

I was totally joking. Actually one of my five tablets is a phone. I actually use my phone for business and keeping track of appointments and things I need to do concerning my store. One is just a reader, no different than having books. I have two at home and one at work making my 5. I know two at home is overkill, but I replaced my Kindle HD with a Kindle HDX. No more than I was going to get out of the HD, I kept it. I keep it by my bed so that if I can't sleep, I get on it and play. It doesn't bother my DH while he is sleeping like turning on the TV would.
Much better being addicted to electronics than to booze or drugs.

Well, if you make that comparison yes... but, still not a healthy lifestyle. JMH

I have 2 e-books, one kindle and one nook. Nothing was wrong with the nook but I just wanted a kindle. I think people just like gadgets and if they can afford to buy them, they do and there's nothing wrong with that.
