Sounds like you were locked out of your account and the security code unlocked it. No matter what the problem was, I would closed the account. Any bank with tech support that poor wouldn't be my bank. It's too important to have access to my money and I find what they did unacceptable. Good luck with your decision.

I'm definitely leaning that way for the same reasons. I will put my money into PNC as soon as this horrible weather stops. After a month I should be 100% sure that changing banks is the smart thing to do.
Thanks for your advice, glb613, I do trust your judgment.

Guess what? This should not surprise you . . . TD Bank access is down again!! This certainly reinforces my decision to go with PNC Bank.
TD Bank is going to have to bite the bullet and hire new programmers and start all over again.

@LilacTree It always takes time to close out a bank account. Even when we just transferred out from one credit union to another, we waited two months before we removed all money out of our original credit union. We moved enough money to the new account to cover our checks and bill pay. When all direct deposits, etc were changed to the new account we requested checks for the balances in the old checking/savings accounts and deposited them.
I say if PNC offers more convenience and benefits for you, just continue the process with them. With the issues you had with TD, who knows what may occur down the road with them in the future.

Yep . . . like I couldn't get into the TD Bank again this morning. Got in on the fourth try and saw a message which said "Unfortunately due to a temporary glitch, your data may not be updated completely. We are working on this and the problem will solved soon. Thank you for your patience."
Oh . . . yes . . . patience . . . it's been a month already!! That did it for me. I will go through the process of slowly closing the account (as also suggested by the SSA until their deposit into the new bank goes perfectly) but then I'm done with them. I don't feel like playing Russian Roulette every time I try to access my account. I'm done with that.
And PNC is practically across the highway from this development, so it's closer and they have small branches in one of the food stores we use that has later hours. We will be taking 99% of the money out of TD Bank tomorrow and depositing it into PNC tomorrow. I will immediately pay my April rent. Depends on the weather . . . hope to get it done.

To wrap up this thread, I have changed banks, now using PNC Bank and just paid my rent and utility bill through their online bill pay system. Worked like a charm.
Also set up Popmoney (Zelle) and already exchanged a small amount with my girls just to make sure it works. It does!
Nightmare is over.
Thank you all for your many supportive comments and recommendations. As always, I appreciate you so much.

I don't like IE. Am happy with Chrome. I too pay online and am okay with it. You might want to update or get a one time help with a tech that will come to your house. Or a teenager... that might work. LOL

Turns out my issue had nothing to do with my browser. TD finally sent me a security code that got me into my account. Too late, I had already opened an account with another bank.
