I gave my DH a Tracfone   LG Ultimate smartphone for Christmas last year. He had a flip phone and liked it but he loves techy stuff so I thought he would love a smartphone. Fact is - he HATES it. On rare occasion he will send a text but otherwise he only uses it to make calls. It doesn't fit nicely in his pocket like the flip phone. So I want to get him a flip phone again this year - any suggestions on brand. Is Jitterbug a good phone.

Re: Not a smartphone, please.

I'm with your hubby - have had a Verizon (provider) and Motorola flip-phone for years - I bought from Q a tracfone couple months ago and I hate it.  Takes me forever to enter a new Contact - screen is so touchy I get wrong entries all the time -

flip-phone more hand user friendly - solid contact with keys, etc.  I bought my Motorola from Verizon store - at that time I believe it was around $100 - and Verizon gives solid good service.

Happy shopping!

I think this year I will be smarter and instead of trying to surprise him I will let him pick it out and I will just pay for it.

Verizon has a new prepaid plan and they have basic phones.

A suggestion for those who have trouble typing into a smart phone.  Get a stylus.  Any cheap one will do.

Jitterbug5 is a good phone. You may want to find it on sale like at Riteaid

I noticed Best Buy sells a blue phone for about $75, and Amazon sells the red phone for $75. Amazon has reviews and customer questions about this phone.

The only negative with Great call. They  want to sell folks extra services with a phone. This company uses Verizon's network.

Re: Not a smartphone, please.

Consumer Cellular has contract-free plans starting at about $12 per month.

There is even a free phone (flip-type) available.  (It only comes up if you use their "compare phones" feature, however.)

I like the service.
