Mine is a 2020 model and still charges to 100%.  It does drain a little faster with the latest updates than it did new, but I only charge every other day since I don't use it much.

I am going to get a new one soon (when I get around to it), but I'm sticking with the small, less expensive iPhoneE which is the updated version of the iPhoneSE I have now.

Okay, I think I was asking the wrong question after all.

Apple AI is supposedly more privacy and assistant based, while Google AI is more for business tasking and research.

Apple can do it with 8gb while Google has set 12gb as their benchmark going forward. 

That means an 8gb Apple phone will last longer than the Android which is what I was seeing and made me think of jumping up. 

I miss my $20 landline.

@Laura14  I'm definitely not a techie and I would never presume to tell someone else what type of phone is best for them, but but but I don't understand the things your relatives have told you about Iphones. I've used them for years and never ever had to replace a battery.  Also not paying for extra storage.  I save a bit by not buying the latest model and then I don't replace it until that model is no longer eligible for security updates - quite a few years.  I like my Apple phone because I'm no tech whiz and I find it user friendly.

I've had iPhones and iPads since the originals came out and have never had to change a battery or even had an issue with a battery.   In addition I don't know anyone who has an iPhone and hates it, but that's just me.

i don't know anything about Android phones, so I'll just wish you luck!

I followed Hckynut John's suggestion and bought a Tracfone phone every year.  Not only do I get a new phone, but I get a year of service.

It's the old "give away the razors to sell the blades" concept.

The last few phones I've had were Samsungs but the one I just got is a Moto, and I'm getting to know it.

From a dollars and cents standpoint,  I'm getting a new Moto G and a year of service (plus talk, texts, and Data) for .... four QVC easy pay payments of $18.59.  

That's it ... for a year.

What's not to like?

I'm a Motorola guy. I've never had an issue with them. A year ago, I got a lower-end Samsung and gave up on it after a few months. It came loaded with lots of bloatware that I couldn't uninstall and just annoyed the heck out of me. I don't want/need a Samsung browser, web store, etc. I went back to a Moto G Stylus, and it's great. Most phones come with a promise to update for two to three years, at which time technology will have likely evolved enough to make upgrading smart. 

For your needs, a middle to higher-tier phone with a long expected lifetime, the Google Pixel 10 (2025 model) might be your phone. Amazon has it now for $599. They're promising seven years of updates. Sixteen gigs of RAM but only 128 GB of memory in the base unit.  I know you had an issue with Google once before, but the phones generally get very good reviews.

@gardenman Thank you! I am actually warming back up to a Pixel 10 after ChatGPT and others have told me to drop the Sicilian grudge.

It was Motorola who made the Pixel at the time. They refused the warranty because I bought through a small business via Amazon and not Amazon themselves.

I tried, but Amazon couldn't fulfill it and they directed me elsewhere. Amazon did end up refunding me full purchase price but I never went back to Google.

I loved the Pixels that I had back in the day. 

I see that sale and I am thinking you're right. The Pixel 10 in the 256gb might just be my best friend. That's a great price for what you get.
