Apparently Yahoo Mail has redesigned their format.

The system now decides the "priority" emails.

If you don't indicate ALL everytime you are in emails you can easily overlook.

In addition I don't get timely noticfications on my phone.

The top of each email has an AI generated summary of what AI guesses is the topic summary. I have tried to opt out of this new format. Anyone else?

It's not just yahoo that did that. It's other email servers.

I hate it too.

I'll have to check this out.  I only use my Yahoo email address as a throwaway and haven't been to the site since they eliminated "my Yahoo".

Re: New Yahoo Mail Format

[ Edited ]

Check settings, while options are limited, you can decide whether or not to keep their 'priority' designations and make other changes to the inbox. In some instances you can even revert to the old mail style, though it's likely that will be time limited. I've had the new format for some time and while there are some advantages, I find it harder to stay on top of my mail. I don't at all like the large spacing between entries to my inbox.

Oh wow @stevieb!

I didn't think I had settings on my email but I just went into my inbox and clicked on the 3 dots above and sure enough! It had "categories" or "list." It had the categories checked so I checked list instead and its back to normal. Hurray!

It was ridiculous to have to re-organize or keep clicking on update-new emails etc.

Why in the world do they think I would want how some random person puts things into categories.

"Transactions," and other things-no thank you.

So anyway, thank you @stevieb.

@on the bay  They sort of hid the settings, so glad you found them and were able to make changes you like better. Am tempted to switch back to the old mail layout, but there are some things I like better about the new format, once I made a few changes such as the one you mention.

@granddi  I have used the same Yahoo email format since the 20th century.

Yahoo always ask me if I want the new format I always decline & notify them their "new" format(s) haa 1 too many ads.

I have a Mac & the 20th century format has no ads.  In Yahoo Settings I can switch from old to new.  I am assuming every OS & iOS have the same in Settings as I never heard of an email client forcing you to use their new format.

@stevieb  Thank you, thank you, thank you!  I followed your instructions and got the "old" Yahoo email back.  I hated the new version.  I especially hated the AI generated "summary" of what was in the email.  I felt like I was being monitored for some nefarious activity.  I hope they won't ever eliminated the old email version.

Thank you stevieb. I got my old yahoo email back.  Woo hoo.   I absolutely hated the new yahoo mail.  Yahoo is my main email.  I also didn't like that they took the stationery option away.  I always liked using the stationery because it seemed more personal by sending an email greeting with whatever the current holiday was.  I wish I could get the stationery option back as well. I'm really happy to get the old email version back.
