I am so excited. I just placed an order for the newly released MacBook Air, my first new computer since January, 2013.

It will replace my 27 inch iMac which is over 9 years old now.  It still runs well enough.  A little slow and doesn't receive the operating system updates anymore so it's time to replace it.  Big difference going from a 27 inch desktop to a 13.5 laptop.  But I am really looking forward to it.

They just opened up sales for it today.

Did you order from the Apple Store online?  I ordered a new iPad about 3 weeks ago.  It was supposed to arrive by yesterday but hasn't shipped yet.  I ordered because I heard its going to be hard to get computers in the near future due to the microchip shortage.  Maybe it has already started?

Congrat's. You will love it. I had a MacBook Pro for 9 years. That thing was a work horse, but finally gave out. It made me sad, but it was time, since I couldn't get any updates anymore either.  I went one day later and purchased a MacBook Air last Christmas. As with the Pro, my Air is never too far away from me. Have fun.

@Kachina624 - yes, using Rakuten, I bought directly from Apple.  It's not being shipped till mid August.

@gidgetgh    I love mine.   I did the same thing.  My 27" IMAc. Was old and no longer being supported and I wanted to downsize after I downsized me house.  Love MAC/Apple products

@Teddixat - yes.  I downsized houses also and as much as I have loved my Mac, I just didn't want anything that big anymore. I wanted some smallish and sleek on my desk.  I wasn't even tempted by the 24 inch Mac.  

I use my iPad Pro 90% of the time, but I won't use my iPad for banking or checking my credit cards online.  

Apple for me for everything. But it was a wowza on the price.

Congratulations!  Please come back and let us know how you like it!  I'm in the same situtation - I have a 27" iMac I purchased in 2014. It won't update anymore is very slow.

I've been holding out purchasing a new one because I'm not sure if I want to go the laptop route and also waiting for what's coming in the Fall (Apple's Keynote).

@gidgetgh @exciting to get a new laptop.  I have MacBook Pro and like it quite a bit. Yours must have the new. M2 chip?  Come back and review pls.  LM
