What makes you think that? iCloud is a off site storage site provided by Apple. You get 5GB free and it you need more, it costs. Like many other cloud storage sites, your data is encrypted. If you don't trust cloud storage, synch your iPad with your computer via iTunes.

Apple support is very good. I'd check the user forums and see what is recommended.

I keep my Notes Default set to "On My iPad" and "On My iPhone." The settings for email services seem to cause a lot of confusion and haven't always worked well in the past. I like to backup both devices to iTunes on my iMac, as I'm still not a huge fan of any of the "clouds" (I know, I know, eventually I'll come around
). It's personal preference.
BTW: Remember, you can use the iPad/iPhone Settings to save your passwords when you visit sites with Safari. Then, be sure and use Passcode Lock to protect your phone should it be lost or stolen.

Same here. I just got iphone 4s. ATT added iCloud to my phone at time of purchase. When I discovered it had combined all my yahoo contacts & phone contacts..I thought iCloud might be connected with that. I went back & had iCloud taken off my phone. NOW I am wondering if I should have left it on. I am extremely "tech challenged", my son has to help me so much & I am hesitating to ask him this ?... Can anyone tell me what the benefit of iCloud is??? AND can you separate the yahoo contacts from phone contacts??? ATT said no to the last.

They're probably in a folder in your email account. The same thing happened to me.
I changed the cloud settings but it didn't work and I lost interest in it.

You get iCloud storage from Apple not AT&T. You can turn iCloud on or off through system preferences. I backup my iPad to my iMac and backup my iMac to an external hard drive. I also burn data to DVDs.

iCloud can be confusing. This link may help lessen some of the confusion:

To get Yahoo contacts off your contact list, go to Settings---Mail,Contacts,Calendars ---tap Yahoo ----turn Contacts OFF.
