Missing links from bottom of Google homepage

I hope I can describe my problem so someone out there can understand what I'm asking about. Here goes. I use Google.com as my homepage on both Internet Explorer and Chrome. Usually when you first open it, you'll see links at the very bottom of the page which you can click on. These are from left to right--Advertising, Business, About, Privacy & Terms, and Settings.

On my Windows 7 computer, these links appear at the bottom of both browsers as they should. However, on my Windows 8.1 computer, they only show up on IE. They are completely absent on Chrome. Would anyone know if this is normal with this operating system and Chrome, or might there be a problem with my installation of Chrome. As far as I know, I have the latest version: 35.0.1916.153m. I never click on any of these links except sometimes for Settings (actually it's Search Settings) when I need to change the Google Instant Predictions from "only when my computer is fast enough" to "never show instant results." Would anyone know why these links are missing? Thanks.

Re: Missing links from bottom of Google homepage

I use Windows 7 with Chrome and those links come and go for me. If I open a new tab, they don't appear. If I open a new window and type the Google URL into the address bar, they sometimes appear.

I've never once needed to use them, so I don't worry about it. There's nothing in those links you can't get do just by doing a Google search. I found the About and business sections by searching or guessing the URL.

Re: Missing links from bottom of Google homepage

Problem resolved. I couldn't understand why google showed up one way on Chrome on my Windows 7 computer and another way when using Chrome on the Windows 8.1 computer, especially since they both were the same version. Turns out that it was just a slight difference in the settings used on both computers. Windows 7 computer, I have "open a specific page or set of pages" selected under "on startup" in Chrome's settings (there, I had google's URL typed in as the place to go). Windows 8.1 computer, I had selected "open the new tab page" instead. That takes you to the google page that has the thumbnails at the bottom.

The only reason I cared about having those links on the bottom was the easy access to the "search" link. When you click on that and select "search settings," you're taken to the options for Google Instant Predictions. There you can choose "only when my computer is fast enough," "always show instant results," or "never show instant results." Can't find those options when going to "settings" via clicking the upper right icon. The only time I ever need to go to Instant Predictions and change to "never show instant results" is when Norton is acting up. Sometimes Norton does not show their safe web icons in search pages. Clicking this option corrects the problem. Don't know why, just know that's what Norton has said to do when this happens. And, no, I don't depend solely on the safe web icons when going to sites. I am very careful about where I go. I just like having them there.
