Re: Microsoft Delivered the Explorer Patch Yesterday and Included XP

DH downloaded some update that left his laptop with a program he cannot seem to uninstall. (Fast Clean Pro). Backdating did not work and neither did malware. He does say it runs a little better. Thank you for your suggestions and did not mean to ""High jack"" the discussion Smiley Happy

Re: Microsoft Delivered the Explorer Patch Yesterday and Included XP

you can not ""delete"" IE--or uninstall

1. Go to: Control Panel

2. Select: ADD/REMOVE programs

3. Scroll through and find the ""fast Clean Pro""

4. Click UNINSTALL

*****************

Go TO: www.download.com

2. in search bar type ""free browsers"" or MozillaFirefox

3. Click ""download""

4. Click ""RUN'

5. Check 'make my default browser'

also--Mozilla and IE are browsers (not servers) just to eliminate some confusion

Reminder--do not DELETE PROGRAMS --always use Control Panel to UN-INSTALL.

you CAN ""delete"" some things such as ""shortcuts"" (ICONS w/little arrows) or delete websites from your ""favorites"" list...as examples.

Hope this helps

It's malware.

Re: Microsoft Delivered the Explorer Patch Yesterday and Included XP

Am really so confused and upset... I called Norton the other day.... A tech support person helped with some issues i was having. Took over my PC which i love when they do...

He did add Mozilla Fire-fox as a 2nd browser for me... I really am not that crazy about that browser as i am missing the Favorite tool which is on IE...

Mozilla has file-edit-history-bookmarks-tool,and help...

Have so many web sites, and other info stored in Favorites, and would like to add that to the Mozilla fire-fox...

Also keep getting pop-ups to update my Java... Have done that and cannot understand why i am getting this?

I checked my programs to make sure.. Do have Java8... Did delete the 7...

So here i go again with this happening...

Just wondering if Microsoft has fixed the IE problem,as i am afraid now to use the IE Browser..

Also i was tying to find out if Norton did upgrade me to iE11? How can i find this out?

Getting to a point of just giving up...

One thing after another..

When i called Norton originally on the 5th... Had gotten a Virus infection notice on my IE browser...

Tech did find the problem said he took care of it.. Did check my programs and files etc...

He just said i was up to date..

Now getting very confused because of added 2nd Browser which seems to be working.

When i opened yesterday before clicking any browser got another Virus notice...

That's when i called again.

The Tech support person said he could not help me as i may have clicked on something that caused that to happen.

I am really upset as they usually do help me with taking over my PC (SHARING AS THEY CALL IT))

He said i could have some other Norton partner fix the problem.. However would cost me $90...

Am really so fed up and cannot afford to pay for this..

Have too many expenses and just can't do it...

So now i don't know what to do?

If i call Micro-Soft they also want to charge too costly for me..

Have invested too much in trying to fix this PC in the past..

Sorry to be venting but feel like i am defeated...

Re: Microsoft Delivered the Explorer Patch Yesterday and Included XP

You really need to learn some computer basics. Is there a senior center near you? If so, see if they offer some computer classes.

You can import your favorites to Firefox or Chrome. With Firefox go to bookmarks at the top of the screen, show all bookmarks, click on the star symbol on the left then import data form another browser. It will ask which browser and select IE. I'm sure it's a similar process with Chrome.

Update and run Norton and be sure to delete everything it finds. You don't need a tech to take over your computer.
