Microsoft Delivered the Explorer Patch Yesterday and Included XP

Microsoft delivered the patch for Explorer, yesterday and included one for XP. If users have automatic updates turned on, there will be no need to take any action to get the patch. You can also go to Microsoft's site and get the patch right away.

I still need some help with this. I looked up the link but when I look it talks about Dell. It won't let me do anything in the link so am I waiting for the patch, will they send it to me somehow, what do I do? I want explorer back. I have run any updates I have but nothing about a patch? Is it not ready yet?

Get into Windows updates and install the patch. You can find Windows updates through the control panel.

Re: Microsoft Delivered the Explorer Patch Yesterday and Included XP

{#emotions_dlg.crying}Have IE 9 using Windows 7.. On Thursday after opening... I wanted to go to my opening page which is Msn...

When I tried could not... A page came up saying page not found...

Tried several times and could not do...

Went to Tools. Clicked on Internet Options... Tried typing in the homepage I use to start...

Same thing happened...

After a few tries I called Norton who I use for Pc security...

The tech tried to fix and could not..

Seems my Pc was not connected to Internet...

He told me to call my server who is Verizon... I called yesterday.... Don't have wireless connection have the router type connector which connects to internet...

Did some checking to make sure all was okay and said no virus detected..

I told him I was using IE and felt with other issues I wanted to try another Browser.

Was not sure how to do that. He said he would be glad to help me...

He tired to do the sharing but something on my Pc prevented him to do it...

He did try several times without success.

He feels it is my settings causing this..

I have invested so much with my computer, cannot and cannot afford any expenses now...

Also my husband recently had hernia surgery and cannot lift anything heavy...

We are both seniors without having anyone to help us..

Sorry going on too much...

Getting back to the changing Browser which WTW Version said I should...

My daughter uses Mozilla-Fire Fox? Is that the name or is it two different Browsers?

Feel dumb asking but this is very confusing to me.

Would appreciate some help from anyone that can.

Just to add do I delete the IE or just add the 2nd browser...

My gut feeling is just to get rid of it..

Think it's causing me a lot of problems...

Any other suggestions would be very appreciated..

If IE can't connect to the internet and it's your only browser, you'll need another computer to download Firefox or Chrome. I use Firefox on my iMac and MacBook Pro because I like it better than Safari. You also can't uninstall IE.

Has your Norton expired? There are several anti-virus programs that will block access to the internet if the program has expired. They claim it's to prevent viruses but I think it's a way to get people to renew.

Shutdown your computer, unplug the power supply to your modem and router(if you have one) and leave them off for 5 minutes. Reconnect the power supply to the modem, then the router, turn on your computer and see if you can connect.

You should also check your Norton's firewall settings and make sure it's letting IE connect to the internet.

Hi gib613, No I only have one computer..... Yes I did have my router checked and it is working...

My Norton subscription expires in Aug.... No did not check my firewall setting as yet...

Do have something else which did pop up during my Verizon Tech help.. Seems a Java notice came up saying I needed to renew.

However does seem I have the latest edition... Cannot understand what is going on with Java??

Just did a search for changing to another Browser... So confusing as there as many to choose from..

That is really making me nuts right now... So afraid to do anything as I have had so many issues with my computer..

Oh to add. I never received a patch from Microsoft that others are talking about..

As I thing it is only for upgrade to 11? Am I right on that?

Again very confused and sorry to bother you or anyone about my issues..

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply... You have been very helpful in the past to me...

You're getting online or you wouldn't be posting. You can find Java in the control panel. Open it and see if it needs to be updated. You can also look at the settings with Norton and see if you have any sites blocked. It could have blocked MSN and that's why you can't connect. It's been a very long time since I've used Norton so I can't be more specific.

Here are 2 links to download either Firefox or Chrome. Download both if you want. It never hurts to have several browsers installed in case something goes wrong with one. After one is installed, try getting to MSN.

Firefox

Chrome
