@gardenman wrote:GPS units, digital point and shoot cameras, camcorders, audio recorders, MP3 players, etc. are all becoming extinct due to smartphones that have the same capabilities as those devices in a single unit. The companies that make those individual units will find themselves in all kinds of financial trouble as more and more people move to smartphones.
We've seen the audio CD market largely disappear, and we're seeing that with DVD's now also as more people buy the digital version of movies. CD players are all but gone from the market. DVD players are not the hot item they were just a few years ago.
Smartphones have become pretty much everything you need in one little package and some are so affordable that it's hard to justify the cost and inconvenience of individual items.
That might be true for some but, if I use my iPhone as a GPS, it's using my cellular data. If I use my GPS, it's not.

I wasn't gonna use the memory card to transfer stuff to the new TomTom
I was wanting to load stuff on it from the new unit without having to buy a new card.
Update: Took back the TomTom and bought a Garmin 6 in. LM
Takes hrs and hrs to charge battery off of computer, so, I spent another 30 bucks for the AC/DC charger. Took it out to the car and charged it using the car battery in not to long of a time. That pc charging was taking as long as I was far*ing around with the Tom the other night. Will have to do till the mail brings my wall charger.
Hope when it comes to doing updates I don't get in trouble again like with TT. I remember the good ol' days when me and hubbo would wander around on vacation looking at paper maps LOL
Went ahead and bought a new 32GB memory card also just to be on safe side just want this job to be over.
